I have all the sheetmetal and cab to start building my 39 half ton. I have a rolling chassi from a 37 picup that is SWEET! EVERYTHING IS THERE . the guy just took the body and sheetmetal I have been getting some different opinions on how easy this is going to be . do any of the body/fender mounting holes line up . For some reason I see myself spending alot of time under somebodys original 39 truck with tape measure ,pencil slide rule calculater ,,,,and ten original fingers! I have heard that the pedals won,t line up 39 cab is further back on the frame than a 37 cab . I put an add on the wanted section thinking maybe I should just get a 39 frame and be done with it. Is there a book of scamatics? Has anyone out there done this ? really what am I getting into here ? THANKS FOR ANY INPUT /IDEAS ! OH an bye the way I can,t wait to DRIVE IT !

I just got the last pieces on my 39 car sedan with a 35 frame. The front sheet medal went on with no problem, running boards needs a few hole drilled.I went with mc kit for brakes,no clutch,See how the pedals fit,and get a kit for the brakes.Pu is a easyer swap.

The mounting holes and opening for the pedals will be different on the 1937 frame, along with some other related details, due to the change to hydraulic brakes in 1939. The 1937 frame will have the cross-shaft assembly in the rear of the center of the X, whereas the 1939 will not.

Should be easy peazy. get 39 pedals and mounts and the sheetmetal should bolt on just like it would on a 39 frame.

Mike when it's time to do the brakes, Get with ECI hotrod brakes in CT. I'm starting my brake work on my 39, Ralph @ ECI has me setup with a nice setup using my stock spindle. Disc front/ drums rear. Good luck:D

When it comes to brakes, if you want to retain the original "wide-5" wheels, can use the new Bendix drum brakes with the original drums and wheels.

Mike in Mass,

If you want to take some measurments I can make my 40/41 available. Is pretty much stock with the exception of disk brakes.

PM me if you want to do this.
