34 Ford Original Gas Guage Operation ??

I am curious as how the gas guage works on my 34 Ford , The guage in the dash is there but no connections to it from the tank, at the tank there isn't a connection just looks like a small bit of tubing, guess it has been cut off at both ends, Is it a long small copper tubing between the tank and the guage, what size would this tube be ??? and where would I find something like this, my question is how do I get this guage working again ??:confused::confused: Thanks Barners ..
 
There was a thread started on June 20 that dealt with this issue, including copies of pages from Ford service bulletins.
