SOLD...........Posting for a friend: This 1966 Mercury Comet Big Block 390 Convertible car is very restorable and rare as only 3900 Convertibles were produced in '66. Harder to find than either a Ford Fairlane, Mustang or Cougar. Also, many of the parts are the same.
- The hood needs replacing, hood lip rusted through
- Windshield will need replacing (cracked by a softball)
- Engine compartment upper passenger cowl has a some rust due to water draining under the hood. Once the engine is out, a partial piece needs to be welded in.
-Drivers side fender in good shape
-Drivers side door needs small patch on front and rear bottom
-Good drivers quarter panel
-Good deck lid
-Trunk floor needs repair on the left bottom
Small rust area under the chrome piece betwween the top and the body-passenger side.
-Both bumpers need plating
-Passenger quarter will need patch panels behind the wheel well and the end
-Passenger side door needs small patch on front and rear bottom
-Front and rear floor pans need replacing (repro'd, same as Fairlane, maybe Mustang)
-Top motor and mechanism all there, needs a flat piece for the drivers side where top swivels to go down; just a flat piece with swivel holes at both ends.
390 2 barrel, straight drive. Now has a 4 Barrell factory intake with a Motorcraft 4 barrell carburetor. Engine runs, but the water pump pulley is frozen.Original exhaust manifolds.
-Interior all there needs covering, decent door panels, chrome door panel retainers need plating
NOS set of Foxcraft fender skirts; one new left taillight lens, a coil, original brake shoes that were replaced, an interior sun visor and the spare wheel. All this goes with the car.
$4,000 cash or interesting trade; call Paul at 803-593-4315. Please PM with your email address for pics. I tried unsuccessfully to load 5.
