1959 Galaxie 4 door windshield

I recently purchased a 59 Galaxie 500 4 door . It's in pretty good shape except for the glass. Rear window is good but 4 roll down windows and windshield need replacing. I was told that I could have the flat glass cut but the windshield is curved. I have not been able to find one for that exact car. Are there any other cars that share the same windshield that I can look for?

I did a quick google search and it looks like '59 is a one off. top of w/s is different on '57-'58 and also '60. also convertible is different from sedan. google has dealers for w/s glass

Maybe you should list your location in your Profile. ;)
Someone close to you may know where there is a '59 Ford parts car. ;)

.

Looks like supply is going to be very limited. I will update my profile to include location. ( Richmond ,Virginia)

Many different models in 59, sedan, 2 door hard top, 4 door hardtop, retractable, convertible. All could be had with clear or tinted. Best to get a parts manual or Hollander interchange book to nail down exactly what you are looking for your body type.

Front Glass is the same but for the RETRACTABLE and Convertible.

Side Glass will require a BODY CODE.

try https://www.ebay.com/usr/autocity1958 auto city classics on ebay, I just got a replacement side glass for my wagon, it was ok and reasonably priced. maybe sure to check your glass when you get it in if shipping. I think they do windshields also.
You might want to ask if they sell the rubber while you are at it.
also while you are replacing the side glass, might as well, grease the rollers and check the fuzzies and stuff.

looks like they list the sides glass - you might have to ask about the windshield.

I am not at home now but there is a guy in Oregon that sells glass for these cars. I will check when I get home and get you the info.

Mike

Thanks for the information. It appears they have a new one. Do you know of anyone that has used one of these windshields? Do they fit as well as original?

Back in the early 90's when I was reinstalling the w/s in my '58 Yeoman, I cracked it. I searched and found a place SW of Chicago that said he had one. When I went to pick it up, he asked me if I wanted clear or tinted, he had five of each. They were made in South Africa and mine fit great. Do they have a return policy if it doesn't?

I see where they are offered clear or green tinted. All the windows in the car now appear to be clear. How dark are the green ones? Which ones do most people go with? I would not want a windshield that makes it harder to see at night.

The tint is very light compared to today's shades. If your good rear window is tinted I would go with the tint on the replacement glass just to keep it all the same.

1959 Ford Custom/Fairlane Windscreen.
metro1, if you have no success in the USA, try Australia, as these 1959 Fords were sold here for 3 years before being replaced by the 1962 Ford "Compact" Fairlane. Ford Australia offered the Fairlane 500, Custom 300 and Ranch Wagon for 1959, 1960 and 1961. The biggest cost would be the Freight. The 1959 Edsel also shared the same Windscreen and Side Windows as the Fords. These "big" Fords are very popular in Australia. Best of luck. Regards Mercman <><

Check out the Roof Lines on these 1959 Edsel Ranger 4 Door Sedans. The Edsel Corsairs also have the same Greenhouse as the Rangers.
You will notice that they share the same "greenhouse" as the Fords, including the back Window.
Maybe, you could contact the Edsel Club for a Windscreen?

I got my side glass all in the green Ford tint, no problem at night. For the windshield, also green with the darker tint at the top, worth the extra $9 at the time.
