1955 Crown Vic belt alignment

I recently bought a 1955 crown vic and within 200 miles the belt went. At first i didnt think anything was wrong. When i looked at the belts there was only 2 belts, normally this is OK but my car had an aftermarket AC put on. After talking to a bud at work he said you should never use the crank to try and turn 3 things off the same belt (the original work was 1 belt was for generator/fan/crank/AC), and the second belt was for crank and power steering. So what i have done is i measured up the belts to get 3. 1 for the crank and powersteering, 1 for the crank/fan/generator, 1 for crank/AC. Now here is the big question 2 out of 3 line up (powersteering with crank and AC with crank) the 3rd belt (crank/Gen/Fan), on the 3rd belt the crank and generator line up but the fan is off by 3/8" to 1/2" out of alignment. Is there any way i can shim the fan to bring into alignment so the belt doesnt keep going? Maybe change something else?

Please help thanx
PS: Im new to being a backyard mechanic, hope everything makes sense

The fan pulley can be spaced out reasonably easy with shims or spacers between the water pump flange and the inside of the pulley. If you need the fan pulley to go towards the rear, it gets more complicated in that the water pump flange would need to go backwards in which to accomplish this. Another pulley might well accomplish moving the fan pulley belt groove where it's more in line with the other two pulleys.

Hey Ted as i said im new to this backyard mechanic stuff, i think all that matters is i dont have 4 things off same belt. It sounds like if i can move the fan pulley forward its the best. If i moved the pulley forwards can i shim 1/4" possibly more? One other thing is the engine was modified (aftermarket AC), if got a new fan and pulley would this fix the problem? I had a guy look at the vehicle and he told me that the fan is not the original fan, for this engine.
