1941 Ford 2 door coupe

I have a 41 2 door coupe that I need to replace the right rear section of fender behind the tire. I am wondering what years of Fords/Mercurys are the same here. I have heard they are the same from 1941 to 1948 but I don't know if this is right. Does anyone know for sure? I can't find any repair sections (I've tried Dennis Carpenter, Bob Drake, CW Moss, Early Ford Parts, EMS, EBAY, and a few other metal fabricators) so I am sure I'm going to have to do some salvage yard scrounging.

From what I can remember, the 41-46to 48 are very similar. The problem MAY arise at the running board connections. I dont think it’ll ever show cause you can’t see both sides at once , as a dear friend use to say . But worse case is you get a 46-48 with front damage and cut the repair section you need and graft on .
I do have 3 1941 and a 46 outside that I can take some measurements from , but it’s going to take a few days . Recent back stuff going on again .
Forgot also , the tail light opening is different.

MDarby, you should list your Town and State under your name,
as Someone close to you might have what you need. ;)

Also, can you snap a picture of the damage and post it here.

.

i own a '41 convertible and i've just brought up a high resolution of it and a similar pic of a '46.

first of all, i know, as do most others, that the '41's front fenders were a one-year only design. and i found that a comparison of the '41 to the '46 rear finders show no differences. nor differences between their fuel door positions nor the distance from the back end of the door to the front end of the rear fender. of course, the position of the tail lights differ quite a bit. so it's possible a wiring hole or two might need filli'n' and drill'n.

i'm assuming, without even looking, that the '46-'48 are identical and most likely the '42 also.

and if was intending on doing some scrounging at a junk yard, i'd be sure to take the '41's fender with me. :)

Welcome to the barn, comment on some other posts, when you get to 10 comments you can post pictures of your rust damage. I also have a ‘41 sedan coupe but I don’t know what part of the country your from but I’ll try to help in any way I can. Too bad you missed Hershey.
