I am new in the 1940 Fords, and would like to know the defference in the 1940 Deluxe sedan and the Standard sedan. Thanks

Different hood and latch, different dash trim and color, different steering wheel, only one sun visor in the standard, only one tail light on the standard (although second was available as an option), different hub caps, different color deck emblem, different headlight doors. I'm sure others will think of more.

It's mostly in the hood and grill. The Standard hood and grill more resemble a '39 Deluxe. Standard grill bars run vertically and Deluxes run horizontally. There is a bunch of other stuff too... Standards have 1 taillight (2nd could be dealer installed as an option) and 1 sun visor. Deluxe has a two toned dash with extra trim and a clock. Deluxe has spring covers. Deluxe has chrome headlight doors, while Standards were painted body color. Interior fabrics were different between the two, woodgraining was different on the garnish mouldings, door garinish mouldings were different, window cranks & escushion plates are different. Deluxe steering wheel was two tone while Standard is one color. Lots of Standards got "upgraded" with Deluxe parts over the years. Get a copy of the 1940 Ford Book from the V8 Club, they explain all this.
