Ford Barners,
I've recently acquired my 39 Ford Fordor Deluxe. I found out today that both of the right hand door handles have their square shafts cut and a brass piece of pipe with set screws at either end used to connect the two cut pieces. The cuts look fresh so this occurred in recent years. Both handles no longer work since the set screw brass connector failed on both (poor design and execution all around).
What I need to know is what the total length from the base of the handle to the end of the square shaft is on a stock 39 Ford Fordor Deluxe door handle.
I plan to weld a piece of square bar stock on the shaft and go from there. The stainless handle parts are in great shape and the repair won't be visible.
Thanks, Dan
