1936 Coupe headliner, yards of material?

There are several "yard" dimensions which largely depend on the width of the material roll. If a car seat is wider the 54" then a person needs to look for 60" width or whatever needed. A yard is measured as taken off the roll so it would be 36" X 54" on that width of roll. A person needs some Muslin, or whatever appropriate material, for the listings to attach the headliner to the top bows A coupe will need material to run down the back to the package tray. If measurements show somewhere around 2-yards then purchase three. If sun visors are involved then material to match may be needed for them as well.

A lot of folks use the napped cotton cloth specifically for head liners but you can use whatever you want to if doing it yourself. I have my own upholstery machine so I do things myself. Classtique has reasonable yard good to sell. If a reputable company sells headliners, I purchase them done just to save time. Headliners take time to pattern and sew and many times I can purchase one for less than I can do it in time and material if I put a value on my own time. If nobody makes them then I do it myself.

I'm going to buy the material from Classtique. No one makes a '36 coupe headliner, that I'm aware of. I will take the car and the new headliner material to an automotive upholstery shop and have them use the old headliner for a pattern.
