I know that one of the memebers named Flatheadfan has provided instructions on how to do a rumble seat conversion in a 1935 Ford coupe. Can anyone help me contact him or do you have info?
Look him up in the members listing, click on his name or Avatar picture and send him a PM aka private message. He sent his conversion info to me and I am sure he would do the same for you.
Check your PM for details on the rumble seat conversion. Warning, this is not a quickie operation to do but "IF" done correctly it can be better than the factory originated rumble seat.
I have three cars with rumble seats. Nobody has been in one since the 70's. The last time one was used was a diaster. A lady at work just insisted to ride back there. She was pretty large. She went in like a Chinese finger puzzle. I really thought I was going to have to drive home to get the engine hoist. The cushions are in the way to carry a cooler and lifting anything in or out is difficult and dangerous. I would love to have all of them back to trunk cars.
Converting to a rumble seat is not a good move in my opinion. I owned three cars with rumble seats and no one ever rode back there. They are a pain in the rear when traveling as it's very difficult to load and unload your luggage. They also have a tendency to leak water into the trunk area. Do you want people crawling over and dragging their feet on a nice paint job when trying to get into the rumble seat? JMHO
I have the seats out of my rumble 34. It was fine when we were 100#s ut now a days noboby is that small & the quarters are cramped to work in that area with the seats out. A real ***** to load & unload luggage also I have the battery back there & it is not easy to access.
