1934 Ford Cabriolet

I have 2 questions for my 1934 Cabriolet- it is all stock. The charging gauge shows it is discharging when the engine is running. I checked the generator with a volt meter and it’s putting out 6+ volts. Is this normal?
Next question is I see advertisements in V8 Times for Early Ford V8 Club Genuine Books & Accessories but no mention of 1934? Just wondering why?

How did you check your generator, Idling or with the engine somewhat rev'ed up? Lights on or off?? IF the latter, you "should" be somewhere around 7.2 volts rev'ed and lights on

The only "books" the Early Ford V8 Club publishes (by and large) are the restoration guide books WHICH there is one book for both 1933 & 1934 combined. IF this is what you are asking, you're in luck as the V8 Club just had about 130 books 're-printed" and are currently available for purchase.

V8 Club wed site, look for "On Line Store" then "books" page 2 top center

Some of the amp gauges use a loop and the feed wire simply goes through the loop and others have two terminals. The gauge is amps not volts, and measures current draw. You want to set the generator so that it just barley charges into the positive on the gauge with the headlights on and engine running so when you have low current draw with the lights off you are not overcharging and "boiling out" the liquid from the battery.

And yes as mentioned above the '34 book is back with a few minor revisions to remove inaccurate information. TBH, its not really all that good/useful. It was on hold for a completely new edition that now may never happen so they went ahead and printed off a few more to satisfy demand.
