I need help with identifying this carb. I need to get a rebuild kit for it and want to make sure I get the correct one. It looks like it might be different carb as the upper and lower could be different from what I have been reading.

I believe it's a Stromberg Model 48...It's the correct carb for the 1934 Model Year...

You might find a small number '48' stamped onto the bottom edge of the air horn casting...

Hi there, welcome to the Ford Barn. Your carb is either a Stromberg model 40 or a 48 which is nearly the same item. A Stromberg 97 kit will do the job for you. There are a couple of kits available from Stromberg Carburetor Co which make the best reproduction 97 carbs and parts also in England. Look them up on the web. Regards, Kevin.

It is a slight mixture of parts. Yes the center section is 48 as indicated by the 1-1/32
The linkage from the throttle to the upper section, for the choke, is 97 note the small hole on the upper side. If the upper section has a spring loaded button to fit in the small hole in the linkage then it is also 97. The cast base section??, the linkage at the throttle if it has the "W" and "S" post for the throttle linkage is also 97?? I believe the 34 model 48 is not marked with the "48" until the 35 year. Stromberg was a supplier to several car companies so Ford started having the Carbs. placed on their cars, identified with the car model prefix 48 is the model number for 1935. This was due to Ford starting a rebuilding business for only their own assemblies.
If you want a rebuilding kit go to the Stromberg web site and order there or contact Max Musgrove at Stromberg. If you want a more detailed exam post more photos of the top with the linkage removed, the throttle at the base.
