1931 Coupe Backrest Removal HELP

Want to clean my Backrest in the Original Coupe and wonder if it is possible to remove it without removing the total seat frame assembly.

There is a fabric filler piece on top, how do I remove that

Don't think so. Mine comes out with the back attached to the frame, and the seat bottom is separate.

Elrod has it right. The entire seat frame, less bottom cushion, comes out as a unit. I believe there is a thread on this subject already. Gar Williams

On my 31 with the screw type adjustable seat, and 60s replacement upholstry the flap was attached under the package shelf covering --that just had 3 nails, the seat side was sewn
 
Generally, the cardboard cover with its overlay of upholstery is clipped to the steel package tray with three tabs. They are visible by looking underneath the package tray from the rumble seat / trunk space. The cardboard can be slid forward when the seat is moved forward. Since your Coupe probably has never been taken apart, the cardboard may resist moving. Gar Williams
