NOTE: Since I last posted this advertisement last year, I have spent a great deal of time and effort cleaning the side curtains and windows, plus buying and applying a special plexiglass window restorer/protectorate. The curtains look almost brand-new now. A lot of work and expense for a measly $25 additional selling price from last time!
For sale: A full set of side curtains for a 1928-29 Model A Ford Phaeton (four-door convertible). This set includes four side curtains for the doors, two curtains for the rear passenger area, two material-covered cardboard side rail pieces, four curtain rods, an oilskin carrying pouch for storage and a bottle of expensive plexiglass window restorer/protectorate. The curtains are used, but are very, VERY nice! They are made from extremely durable black Stayfast water-proof material, which is much better than the usual plastic long-short grain material normally used to make them. The material is colorfast and is still color-true. Numerous photos will be shown in this ad and the next.
The plexiglass windows are in excellent condition. They are clear, not scratched up, yellowed or opaque from age. See photos to judge the clarity for yourself. All snaps are present and functional. For 1928 Phaetons with inside door handles, there is a flap in the driver’s door curtain for the hand to enter and operate the door opening lever. A provision has been made to accommodate a windshield post rearview mirror.
An oilskin storage bag is included. It has a couple repairs to tears caused by the side curtain rods poking through the material. But the case itself is sound and functional. This bag stores away under the rear floorboard in most 1928-29 Phaetons.
If this side curtain set were ordered today in the upgrade Stayfast material, the cost would be close to $2000 by the time the four rods, carrying case, tax and “Shipping & Handling” fees were added. Plus, there is an estimated year’s wait for delivery. I am offering this side curtain set for $625 plus ACTUAL shipping cost within the continental USA. I am suggesting an estimated $30 shipping cost because these parts are heavy and bulky. Should the ACTUAL cost be less, I will refund the difference. If shipping runs more than $30, I will absorb the extra cost.
Costing less than 1/3 what new curtains would cost (plus a year’s wait), this is a wonderful opportunity to weather-proof your Model A - and entice your wife to ride with you again!
