I wired the headlights of a model t 1917 like this. Mag to headlights. It works on mag. When I wire the switch in the curcite, between the mag and headlights, when I turn the switch on the engine dies. What am I doing wrong?
or it could be that the headlight wiring is incorrect and when you turn the switch on the voltage is then going to earth.
have you tested the headlight active wires to see if they are isolated from earth?
Wireing should be mag to switch then to right headlight, into one bulb contact then out the other bulb contact, across the front of the car into the left headlight, into one bulb contact then out the other contact then to a ground, usually soldered to the radiator shell. A short in the switch may kill the engine if the switch body is grounded,
