Questions about 150-A fitting the 150-B
Photos for this latch are now on the add at the Ford Barn site. As far as the latch fitting the 150-B, I did see them on a 1931 150-B at the Gilmore Museum in Michigan. The difference is that the A has the back end of the latch extend beyond the enclosure when operated (thus it uses the small cover as seen on our photos to enclose that end ) The B version was changed so that the back end of the latch did not extend outside of the enclosure therefore not needing the opening or cover.
If you look at picture 5 of 6 on our add, you'll see looking down on it, the left side wall is lowered 1/16 inch from the front of the latch back and 1/4 inch to the right on the back edge. On the B version that 1/4 inch is now 1- 3/4 inch. The lowered section allows for the door frame, 150-A being different from 150-B.
If 150-A latch is used on the 150-B there is plenty of room for the latch protrusion and cover, also the mounting screw holes are the same for both latches so yes it could work. Aside from working, for fine point judging they are different.
The idea behind the change was to eliminate the latch cover by altering the latch to stay within the enclosure therefore no extention needing a cover.
