Glad I joined Ford Barn to see this.

I consulted the hydraulics section of Ford V8 Service Bulletins 1938-1940 Complete on it's pg 459 and it suggests that the free play in the pedal if made zero results in blocking the bypass port so fluid cannot get back into the reservoir. It also says this condition could come from the rubber...

In the slots in the penny loafers I had sometimes Lincoln pennies and sometimes Mercury dimes.

What you left out is what applies to steering components like knuckles and even tie rods and things made of iron or steel is --Magnaflux, and for pistons made of aluminum Zyglo. In today's world where are you going to get blueprints? This is where I began in my Dexter Penny loafers walking...

I only came to clarify something in Mac Van Pelt's book. If that leads to my information being disparaged and called SPAM then I think you are using extortion to keep something of value. Leaving won't fix that. I began working on digital graphics and before you ever had digital photographs to...

I had asked about the 7206 Housing guide pin over in Early Ford group and they referred me to Ford Barn where they said you occasionally post. I think this pin guides the second and high shifter fork so it does not lean and the fine synchro-teeth engage well. It appears to be on all Ford...

This is not about the points or plugs but takes off from your Sears Analyzer. In the day, the hot Carburetor and Ignition shops had Oscilloscopes or just "scopes."(get a yellow pages from the day to see whoo was ascending.) Now when was it in the late 50's they went to the carbon filled fiber...

I have been "shown". Across the street from me in Seal Beach, California, the young son was building an Econorail and I saw him tacking welds on the chrome moly tubes. I had been to Fullerton JC and took gas welding from an old pipeline welder. He was going to have it arc welded later. He had...

I made a digital model of a Packard/Rolls-Royce camshaft for a Merlin V-12 from a drawing supplied by John Fall Of Quinn, Ireland for him the members of GrabCAD. I made it in SolidWorks and then 3Dprinted it to check on any place that was too thin or detailed for i.materialise in the scale I...

The Mallory Magspark is a transformer made by Mallory that had two sides primary and one side secondary. It also had some large external capacitors available separately. "Boots" Mallory had a factory in Detroit and would run a used distributor through it for a modest fee and dyno-tune the...

Blower, supercharger, two different things. The Pontiac "Banker's Specials" sold by Royal Pontiac in the mid'60's had an airbox so the carburetor did not have to be a pressurized one and used the Paxton as a blower. My Kawasaki Z1R with Rayjay 40 U.S. built turbo and sold at the dealer from Dan...

My father simply said, "Your car can only use stock parts." That was the end of "How to Soup Up Ford and Mercury Flathead V-8's by Floyd Clymer. My friend sold me Chevrolet V-8 out of a farm to market milk truck that did not get sent back to warranty claim after it seized and was replaced...

I wondered about this as the Early Ford books I have only have finishes and the Parts green book list all fasteners as s1 finish. So, I looked up the founding date of the SAE which is one thread spec and I found 1905 and one of the founding vice presidents was Henry Ford. USS which is another...

I used an AC motor driven pump on my 1948 in 1956. I mounted it so the diaphragm hung down. (Of course that is right it's just like the mechanical one!) Nope! It crushed the float on the carburetor and I was out in the weeds trying to drive a flooded engine back to home. Borrowed a pressure...

The central shifter early floor shifts have the cluster below the mainshaft. The side loader column shifts have the cluster up on the passenger's side sort of on an arc so the pre-48 side loader gears have the same center to center as the central shifters. ("top loader" is a 60's term for some...
