    Just asking

Update, I got the parts from Macks ( bed pockets , front panel, rear crossmember and tailgate) . The front panel was twisted until laid on ground and pressure applied to both sides to flatten out . I had sort of an oil can effect , laying on ground the left top corner would be raised up from...

    Just asking

Thanks for the responses. I did a dozen or so spot welds on some new 16 gauge . Held switch for 5 secs and each one held but I could twist apart with little effort. The difference in the orig spot welds and mine were quite obvious . Orig welds were some what dimpled and the actual contact...

    Just asking

Thanks for the reply's fellas, Will practice some more with this spot welder . As far as plug welding , I have done quite a few in my time and certainly considered doing it on this project . Being ever so careful , one could do a good job and sorta mimic the orig spot weld dimple , or could...

    Just asking

I am in the process of replacing my bed pockets on my 39 pickup , have removed bed sides and 3 ( so far) pockets . I am curious about panel adhesive vs spot welding. To be clear , I have done a lot of tig and mig welding over the years but have never done spot welding . I recently bought a...

    Torque Tube to Differential Seal

Not sure what year yours is but on a 39 , you would have to split or at least cut the gasket in one place ( preferably the top ) and slip it in and on after removing the bolts . The drive shaft is connected to rear end or I should say pinion gear via coupler that has a pin driven in and...

I have same engine in my 39 pickup , got a drop tie rod end from Speedway (I think) and also lengthened the drag link, have no interference.

remove surface rust on transmission gears

I think you might consider what Terry suggested , lightly bead blasting. Seems to me they are a bit more that surface rusted not that they look terribly pitted or anything but you want to not feel much if you were to drag a finger nail over the surface where the gears mesh. Also if you do...

car pulls to left when braking

In my experience , when a front brake is out of adjustment or grabbing early, I can feel it in the steering wheel more so than if it were the rear brake. When it it the rear , car will veer to left or right but no big or odd action in steering wheel .

    1939 column lock

Just wanted to say that if your toggle lever is broken , I have never seen or at least don't remember seeing that part available . The link deuce lover sent you has good pics that show the inner workings of the toggle and the pin on back side that actually moves the switch in the box that is...

    39 pickup bed

Has anyone here bought any of the new parts for beds such as front panel, tailgate, pockets and rear crossmember offered by Macs or C and G ( perhaps a few others) and if so was the quality as good as original as they advertise? I really need the front panel and the rear cross member, and...

    39 Pickup questions.

I did the same swap in last year, I used a truck pan and it was deeper than the original pan , so I had to get a drop tie rod end , also had to ad a bit of length to the drag link.

    1939 ford Pickup Headliner question

Well, my wishfull thinking was just that. Finally talked to someone at Dennis Carpenter and the fellow said the 40 to 47 headliner would not fit. Called Early ford , they dont carry the kit . Mac's / Ecklers has them but takes about 3 weeks according to the fellow I spoke to . Not a big deal...
