Model A Ford Show and Swap, April 24, Allentown, PA

I’ve heard Jeff Kelly, son of the late Tim Kelly is planning on bringing one of his father’s Model A Town Cars to this show. Always a treat to see one of these rare models up close.

    Parts that don't fit

There are part assemblers then there are restorers. I'm always amazed at how creative restorers can be making repo parts work to keep projects moving forward. Great job.

Model A Ford Show and Swap, April 24, Allentown, PA

I was at the Classic Auto Mall Swap meet in Morgantown, PA yesterday. The event had both indoor and outdoor spaces. Even with the heavy rains yesterday, turnout was very good. Seemed there was a pent up demand to get out and do car guy stuff. It was good to see all the familiar faces...

Canadian, I zoomed into your picture but could not make out the tire size. Are these 15 or 16" rims? Do you happen to know the rim with and backspacing? Thanks, Mike

    Hellertown flea market

Rocket1, You're mistaken. There is no registration or membership required for this show. It's free to everyone who wants to come. Swap meet spaces are $10. What you may have read was about joining the Lehigh Valley Model A Club. It does require a MARC membership. However, you do not need...

Removing 4 Bad Drums from 4 Good Hubs

I also use a 5/8 hole saw, drill press and a little oil. Just cut the swaged portion of the stud. Stud will drop right out. 4 hubs and 8 shoes will fit in a US mail flat rate box for the cheapest shipping to Randy. Yes I also recommend Randy, he is a pleasure to deal with. Note I said 8...

    Rear bumper

My cabriolet might have been one of the ones you saw at Hellertown. I also thought the previous owner of my car put a front bumpers on the rear. I was told by a knowledgeable club member that some deluxe cars came with full rear bumpers. I have not looked this up in the judging standards to...

    Towing attachment points

On an open trailer, I use four axle straps with the tie down straps. On the rear I cross the tie downs and place the axle straps around the rear axle bells. The taper on the bells keeps the straps from moving. On the front axle I again cross the tie downs with the straps placed between the...

    31 front brake rods

If you are referring to the measurement Les Andrews list in his red book. It is not correct. This error has been pointed out many times here. For safety make sure you have a minimum thread engagment length equivalent to the diameter of the rod in the clevis.

    Valve Tappet problem

I am having this same problem with a new set of tappets from Bratton's. To get the correct clearances I've had to tighten them down and then some. I've had to remove the valve spring and move the valves out of the way to use a standard wrench to make the adjustment as they are so tight it...

Is This an NOS Radiator Hose?

I don't think the one on Ebay was NOS. When I zoomed in to see the texture of the outer surface is straight instead of forming a Vee like the one shown in Mike V.'s picture above. Are you guys seeing something different?

Rebuilt water pump seems to tight

I just built a pump with the same parts from Brattons. It seemed harder to turn than I felt it should have.. I showed it to the president of our local club and he said it was fine. I plan on running it when I get the motor back together. Mike

    Shock rebuilders

I have a few sets of shocks I need rebuilt and recently called both John and Robert. In the past I have used Robert and have been happy with his work. I have heard good things about John as well but have not had him rebuild any shocks for me. Both have a backlog right now. Robert has a few...

Rental rate for Model A movie car ?

Watch the movie, "O' Brother Where Art Thou" and see how the Model A are treated. The scenes of Baby Face Nelson evading the cops and getting the car airborn and the cop cars hitting the cows comes to mind. Might make you think twice about renting out your cars for a movie.
