    New Points or Complete distributor

I think you did the right thing. Ford designed those distributors to be easily removed from the engine and timing set on a specialized machine that every dealer had. There are no timing marks on the engine. I never attempted to work on the distributor myself, would never get the timing right.

37 2 door sedan rear side window regulator

Did this a few years ago on a '37 Tudor. As I recall, the regulator was able to easily fit into the wall panel through the larger opening. Then it attaches to the inner wall panel with four bolts & star lock washers. (a reproduction fastener package was available when I did this) The glass needs...

A New Ford Barn Is Coming...

Yes, change is unpleasant, especially for us old guys. But we can do it. Thanks for the heads-up advance notice.

Has anyone replaced the Generator with a Powermaster 6V Alternator on an 8BA?

I have no experience with this so will let others give advice. I'm just sticking my nose in here to ask why so many feel it necessary to go to an alternator? I could drive all night in city traffic without depleting the battery, with the stock 6 volt generator. If the generator is good, voltage...

    6v to 12v conversion 59AB (diver helmet)

Agree, 1.5 ohm or 2.0 ohm resistor. That little coil on the distributor is about 1 ohm in itself. You will then have about 3 ohm total in the circuit, about right to get 4 amps when being pushed by 12 volts. Yes, coil does care about polarity. Feed negative to the coil. Ground the block to...

    1946 front door weatherstrip placement

Yeah, me too. Bought the door hinge rubber for my '40, but I'm afraid to tackle the job with doors in place. Working with that nasty adhesive in that tight couple inches scares me. Also need to remove original adhesive residue. UGH! And I suspect getting hinge pins out on this old survivor would...

    Generator/Voltage Regulator Service

This is a fairly common type of service needed. If you were a member of your local Early Ford V8 Club, other members could direct you to where they have gotten good service. (yeah, blatent plug for the V8 Club)

    59/8ba starter howling/grinding

Then that must be an 8BA engine. The 59 engines still had the distributor in front of engine, driven directly from front of camshaft.

    1935 Ford Cranks Doesn't Start

Good to hear! Still a mystery to me: how was it able to crank if engine was not grounded?

    1935 Ford Cranks Doesn't Start

This does not make sense to me. At the floor starter switch, where are you touching your probe? Are you touching the body of the switch? Or the outgoing cable post to the starter? Or the incoming hot cable post, which then would be feeding voltage to the coil.
