Dash Lights, ON when pushed in, OFF when pulled out

Question for you. Can you disconnect the head and remove it from the dash? Are you willing to send it somewhere to have it fixed, or looking to have it repaired locally nearby? There are probably lots of barners here that can help you do it yourself or fix it for you.

Unfortunately, Volts are not Volts. If you reverse the polarity, you go from Positive 6.3 volts to negative 6.3 volts. This causes the current to flow in the opposite direction. (Positive current flow to negative current flow). Digital circuitry does not like that.

Without knowing what probe you have, I'll guess: Your probe is polarity sensitive, and since you said it has a digital display, when polarity is reversed it stays blank. Since it is single wire, there is no internal "switch" to allow the solid-state electronics to work on reverse polarity.

Looking at the photo it appears your bumper is too straight, should have more curve in it. As said above, bolt brackets to body first then bolt bumper to brackets.

A good old fashioned plumb bob works. Hang it from the center of the tires in front and mark the floor. Hang again from center of tires in back and mark the floor. Then just measure distance between marks with a tape measure.
