    No Start, HELP

UPDATE: The NO START problem was in the wiring (probably). The port side terminal box stud was loose in the box and may have been grounding out to the face of the firewall, but wouldn't that blow the fuse on the starter? Comparing the wiring inside the terminal box to the MAFCA drawing there...

    No Start, HELP

I have been called in to help get a Model A running. Car was running "when parked" 2 years ago, now has been towed to a garage. Upon arrival: Dead battery (6v), Empty fuel tank, and Seized distributor. Fuel lines were blown out and a few gallons of fresh gas added. CArb is getting gas as it...

    27 Coupe doorglass

A customer brought in his bottom door glass channels and some rubber to have glass cut and installed. this is a late '27 (#14,7xx,xxx) coupe. The rubber he wants to have us use is the same as A-79500 Windshield Frame Gasket 1926 - 1931, only cut into shorter strips. We would normally just use...

    Is this original engine?

UPDATE: These are iron heads painted silver. CONCLUSION: The engine swap to a post war V8 was probably relatively simple and not uncommon on this 85 year old car when the original engine was in need of "significant" work. Thanks for all your input.

    Is this original engine?

1936 Ford 4dr Is a 24 stud engine original to the 1936 model year? Were aluminum heads also cast 59AB? I want to connect the existing accessory hot water heater that is mounted to the interior firewall. I looks like the ports next to the cylinder head water outlet might be a great place to...

    Axle Key Installation

The five gear locker sounds intriguing and relatively simple. I am have trouble understanding/picturing the method. Would someone be able to post photos or a drawing to help me understand? Would the same "4" gear locker method work in a Model A banjo? Thanks in advance Peace, Phred

    Windshield Rattles

Saxman, I had similar problem with my 28 phaeton, glass was loose in the windshield frame. Wanting to drive the car and not go down the potential work of chasing rust and repairing the frame if I removed the glass from the frame, I ran a tidy bead of neutral cure silicone around the perimeter...

Pros and cons of removable Phaeton top?

"Is there any easy way to get at that piece without removing the stitching of the back seat and removing it to get at the broken piece?" Unfortunately not. I had to do it once for each side (at different times). There can be a bit of weight from the folded down top cantilevering that internal...

    Low braking phenomena

Thanks, pedal side load and brake pin/king pin interference are things I had not thought of. Will recheck all again because sometimes you can look but not see... FWIW, "pumping" the brakes is probably a misnomer. The phenomena goes away with the first release of the pedal and all works normal...

    Low braking phenomena

Yes, there is a aux pedal return spring, driven nearly every day (1000 miles) since this April, was greased well in April. The phenomena probably once in every 1000+ brake applications(?). It has not occurred on the first application of brakes (after setting for a day or two). I cannot do...

    Low braking phenomena

28 phaeton, mechanical brakes, one piece not multi piece service brake cross bar, brake rods and linkages rebuilt/refurbished and well adjusted. They can lock up straight and true at speed if needed. 99.99% of the time all works as expected. Once in a great while, the brake pedal will only...

    Gear Shift Lever

Thanks to all. I'm going to find a 32 - 34 straight lever as a starting point. Summary of what I've learned: 32 - 35 shift towers "leaned back, later towers were "upright". 32 - 34 levers were straight, 35 levers were swan shaped. Levers do not interchange between 32-35 towers and later...
