    Carb question

I have a 1956 Customline with a transplant 292 single barrel. It was running rough before storage, and I was adjusting the set screws in back. I turned them all the way in to adjust, and the motor kept running. I know this is not normal. What would cause this? And is there an adjustment I'm...

    HEI distributor

Found the problem. A friend suggested that I take a rubber mallet and tap lightly on the distributor shaft. That did the trick. Now loose, I can set timing. Engine was just re-built, for some reason the HEI was stuck.

    HEI distributor

yes, I know where it should be set. But the HEI distributor doesn't move when the car is running. That's the part I'm having a problem with.

    HEI distributor

I'm not sure about that. After loosening the plate that holds it in place, the car running, the distributor will not move like the old originals.

    HEI distributor

I just got back my 352 from being rebuilt. It's in a 1965 full size Custom. My question is, since I haven't worked with a HEI before, is the timing setting suppose to be set right at TDC? That's where its set now. It was easy enough on older distributors to turn them when setting the timing. I...

    Hard starting when warm/hot

Hi Dave, thanks for all the help. I already have the choke cable in place, I just need to get that cable housing piece for the carb. A friend of mine who works with a lot of carbs thinks he has a couple. I'll plug that tube you were talking about and observe the crimping tube and fix. I'm...

    Hard starting when warm/hot

If I did this right, 2 photos of my current carb. As I mentioned, this 292 came out of Ford truck. Previous owner didn't know the year.

    Hard starting when warm/hot

I think so. The carb says "Ford" on it.

    Hard starting when warm/hot

Just purchased a 56 Ford with a transplant 292 Y block. Electronic fuel pump. On cold start the engine fires right up. But on a warm/hot restart it barely starts. I have a single barrel Ford carb on it. Manual choke not connected because there's no clamp to fasten the cable shell. Any suggestions?

    65 352 Big Block

There is no oil on the ground. No blue smoke. I will check the PCV. It idles like a kitten, that's the hard part to figure out. Last night I tried a product called engine wash. Pour the quart in, let the motor run for 5 minutes, drain and new filter. Anxious to see if this will loosen up any...

    65 352 Big Block

Something to consider. Last night I tried a product called engine wash. Pour the quart in, let the motor run for 5 minutes, drain and new filter. Anxious to see if this will loosen up any movable parts. Thanks for the reply.

    65 352 Big Block

I have a 65 Custom with a 352 big block. The motor is using oil at an alarming rate after the engine gets warmed up. The valve seals were just replaced. And a small intake manifold leak was repaired. The thing is, the motor runs perfect. No blue smoke. The car has only 42K actual miles on it. My...

    PennGrade Motor Oil

I just had my 255 Merc Flathead rebuilt, and the company that rebuilt it said I should use PennGrade motor oil. When checking on Amazon, this stuff is expensive! Almost $100 per case of 12. Has anyone heard of this oil? Does anyone have a suggestion on what is the best to use in a newly rebuilt...
