Still Worried About the Antique Car Hobby Being Dead or Dying??

I've now managed to read nearly all of every post on this thread! No surprise that there are many interesting, thoughtful comments....to which I'd like to add this: the hobby as it was when Diane and I get into it in 2010 was different than it is today. It is certainly changing, but that doesn't...

2026 New England Model "A" Meet

This was indeed our first time hosting! While it was most certainly a lot of work, it was also great fun to welcome so many Model A's and their people to our part of New England! We enjoyed having you all. And, happily, it wasn't scheduled for this weekend with 1"+ of rain in the forecast!!

How do you use your Model A?

I am very much in the "own it to drive it" camp - whether that involves a quick run to the local ice cream shop or a multi-day tour to another part of New England...and anything in between. I don't find that drivers around central Massachusetts have gotten nuttier in recent years...most folks...

Turn Signal Flashers Not Holding Up - Fixed - See Post 23

Herb, I cut the can about 3/8" from where it attaches to the base. I used an ordinary hacksaw - were I to do it again, I'd use a Dremel with a cutting wheel - it'd be neater and easier to control. I don't think this was a ground problem, though anything is possible. I solved it in the case of...

    Quick Point Gap Setter

Very handy - no need to wrestle with finding the high point on the cam. Especially when on the road and it's raining.......

    More Q's on Editing Posts

Why can't I edit my initial post in a thread that I started? I could for a while, but now the "Edit" button in that post is gone. The thread in question is: https://www.fordbarn.com/forum/showthread.php?t=351880 Is there a limit on the number of times I can edit a post? Also, how do I edit the...

Turn Signal Flashers Not Holding Up - Fixed - See Post 23

Re: Turn Signal Flashers Not Holding Up - Update I opened up one of the non-working Tung Sol 535 flashers to see what could be learned. This flasher causes the turn signal lights to blink but the indicator light did not illuminate when the turn signal lights were blinking. I'm attaching two...

    signal flasher

old ugly, is there a 3 terminal version of those flashers? Do they use the bimetal strip approach to make/break the circuit? Thanks! Dave

I've been off the turn signal project for a few days dealing with a cooling system issue......back to turn signals soon. I appreciate the suggestions as well as the ingenuity you guys are showing! At the moment I have working turn signals using the Tung Sol 535 flasher from my stash. [I may have...

Thanks for the additional information. Is your car 6 or 12 volt? Would the diodes be installed in the turn signal wires to the lights to prevent current back feeding to the turn signal system? Or in the original wiring.... Thanks much. Dave

Thanks to you both. I will 2x check, but I believe that the bulbs are the same in both side: 32 cp in the rear, 10 cp in the front. And I could build my own!

The mechanical (bimetal) flashers I found are producing an interesting result: #1 - indicator light blinks about 7 times, progressing from brightly lit on the first blink to no light at the 8th blink for RH turn. Indicator light is normal for LH turn. #2 - indicator light is normal for both RH...

Turn Signal Flashers Not Holding Up - Fixed - See Post 23

After posting earlier today, a second electronic flasher came to a tragic end after working fine for some time. I resorted to my stash of mechanical flashers and came up with 6 that I ordered from a vendor months ago. Two of them work, four don't. Of course, "work" hasn't been tested over time...

The flasher is rated for 20 amps. Unfortunately determining current draw for the bulbs is proving tricky: no amps marked on them, and the information I'm finding online only tells me their candlepower! That said, would a cowl light bulb and a brake light bulb be likely to draw more than 20 amps?
