I have a couple of Ruckstell TT axles, 5:1 gears, brake shoes, back plates, hardware, bearings and sleeves.

Galvanized, paint peeling off easily. No rust.

A bones - I have much better pictures, but can't figure out how to post them. I will post them when I get some help later this week. In the mean time please check your email. I sent you an email which has my email address, if you respond I will have your email address, then I can easily send...

I have the 5:1 TT high speed rear gear shown in the pictures. I pulled it from a TT Ruckstell axle. Someone has filed the teeth. I have not seen this done before. Why would someone file the teeth? Is this gear serviceable or scrap?

This is a Ford rear gear for a Model TT. It is the high speed 5:1 gear with 31 teeth. If it is serviceable I want 250 + shipping for it. If it is scrap I want to scrap it. How can I tell? I removed this from a TT Ruckstell and was happy to find it was the high speed gear. BUT, the teeth...

Yup. CID is basically the same with T and A blocks, and they both are L head. HC head and Stipe cam help a lot, but get more power by using an A intake and exhaust manifold, then an A carburetor which is far superior to the T carburetor. And a distributor fires much more accurately than buzz...

What is your location? Best if you can find someone in your area you can talk to, or a club. Restoring an early one can be high dollar.

There are a lot of T's out there and this is my favorite type. As T's wore out owners did a lot of different things to keep them on the road. This one needs a wood bed made which is not difficult. Then locate the driver's seat so it is far enough back to be comfortable. Then you have a...

If you plan to drive it regularly put in a new seat far enough back to be comfortable and set so you don't have to sit up straight. Make it comfortable for you.

Take it to a local glass shop (not franchise) and have them check it. The State Policeman in charge of inspections, a sergeant, for this area of Virginia told me that the windshield on my speedster was not safety glass. I took it to a local glass shop for replacement, they took a quick look...

Great pictures of 1924's! The front tires look large to me, what size were they?

Rather than go original, I would install a front seat that is comfortable and has more room than the original. The front seat in my Fordor is so close to the steering wheel that it is not comfortable to drive. If you could move the front seat back 6" it would be a good driver.

What kind of front brakes do you have?

Great picture, thanks for posting.

Mmmmm, mmmmmm, Holme made bread!!! And the tires appear to be white rubber. What year did they stop making those?

My guess is that a big part of it was that roads were wagon trails when the T was first introduced so slow speeds and inferior brakes really did not make much difference. As roads were built the T became inferior because it lacked speed and braking ability for good roads.

Many, many people have told me how simple a Model T is to work on. BUT try to find a repair shop that can! They exist, but they are rare and you are not likely to be near one. If you have some basic mechanical ability, basic tools, know about small engine repair, and have the manual you...

When Stan Howe passed he had two Stromberg OFs of mine which he was to rebuild for me. Both were in fairly good shape, but I wanted Stan Howe rebuilds so I would know they were right. I also sent him a check for $820, four hundred to rebuild each carburetor and $20 for the return shipping. I...
