    50 Ford seat

I took the front seat bottom from my 49 to Snyders and they replaced all the springs for me. I found out later most upholstery shops can also do this.

    crush washer

On my 49 that has 7/8" threaded oil drain plug I've been buying plug and gasket from the Model A suppliers. Early 1928 drain plug part number A-6730-AR. Snyder's Model A Parts show that their Spark Plug Gasket Set A-12410 will also fit. I have not tried this.

    Transmission book for later transmissions

In 2020 MVP did a series of posts going through a 1949 Merc trans with OD. It is similar enough to a Ford that I was able to rebuild mine. I PDF'd all the posts and downloaded all the pictures and saved them for future referance. Here is a link to the first post...

    Hershey Swap 2024

Here are some pictures of the Woodies for sale at the auction. Thanks to the gentleman at the Early V8 tent for the tip about them. Descriptions are in the RM website. The 49 has a Ford 302, the 40 has a hot rodded flatly and I believe one has a 327.

    1950 Mercury Heater Q's

The operating instructions for the heater are in the instruction pamphlet in the glove box. Maybe your single step switch turns once you pull it out for high and low speed.

    1950 Mercury Heater Q's

I'll try to help with some info from my 49 Ford wagon, hopefully the Merc is the same. The 49 and 50 used a single speed motor (2 wire) with a resistor in the blower switch to attain 2 speed operation. The switch was off when all the way in, high in the middle and low all the way out. In 51...

    R-10 Borg Warner question

Dave, The plug to the right of the governor is the OD fill. See attached picture for the drain location. I'm not sure which trans your OD is attached too as they didn't originally come on 1937 vehicles. On 1949-1951 the OD and trans oil cavities are connected so you can just drain and fill...

    Water outlet holes

I had the same problem with a block last year. Use a stop on the drill to keep you from going too deep. For alignment I made a block to help with this. It was just a 1 1/2" thick piece of aluminum. First I center punched two holes the same distance apart as the holes in the water inlet. Then...

    Pressure Testing a Block

A working pressure radiator cap can only sense the pressure where it is located (i.e. top tank). Pressures vary greatly though out the system. From a low pressure area before the water pump inlet, Ever see a collapsed lower hose? Or a spring inside the lower hose to prevent this? Water pump...

Should I convert from 6 volts to 12 volts

When mine died AAA used a jump box to start it. Hook it up correctly and remove it right away. Don’t let someone jump your vehicle without being there.

OT - will this old engine analyzer work on Model A's?

It should tell you in the instructions if it is compatible with positive ground. If it is hook it up as they instruct and you can check dwell and rpm. For alternator output I doubt that it will work. You can just check the voltage to verify the alternator is working.

    Jackson MI swap meet

I haven’t seen any cars or trucks or any outside vendors in the last few years. You have a better chance of seeing cars or trucks at the Kalamazoo swap meet in early February, especially if the weather is nice.

    Jackson MI swap meet

Well that's a great question. In years past it was run by the VMCCA and was on Sunday. The local Early V8 club region had a table there. Hardly any flathead parts but a few tables of Model T and A parts. Small building maybe 3/4 full, I spent about 45 minutes walking around. It was slowly...
