I am looking to rebuild an oil pump. Curious about the clearance of the pump gear teeth to the housing wall and the clearance of the housing cover to the face of the gears themselves. The only reference I see is in the MAC catalog which indicates that the clearance for both is .001" to .002."...

A buddy of mine just painted an engine with a "recipe" that he found here. Rustoleum (2 parts green, 1 part blue and 1 part black). It looked tremendous to me and if it is good enough for Phil - it is good enough for me.

What I have learned from the folks in my local club is that "balance" is a friend to the Model A engine. Anything that disturbs this balance should be avoided. Mixing pistons might not be the correct thing to do.

Update: I thought that I should let you know that the advise that I received here paid off. A little bit of lapping compound and toothpaste did the trick. I also used the shut-off rebuild kit. Now I am one week into the next eighty years of leak-free service (I hope). Thanks everyone for...
