thanks! i drilled the one out on the pitman arm & welded it back no problem, so i may try to do this.

all the shims i used had a hole drilled in them so they would slide down over the bolt! no way they could come out

ok! the steering box! the picture you show is the cross shaft that the pitman arm attaches too. I am talking about the shaft that the steering wheel goes on! she slack I am speaking of is possibly between this shaft & the worm gear on the lower end.

if I understand what you are saying, you would cut a key way in the splined steering wheel? I could see that this would work if the taper of the shaft is the same! I never really thought of doing that. thanks

been there done that! it is extremely tight to the frame! I even replaced the bolts with grade eight so I could really tighten them up. as for the pitman arm! it is tight on the cross shaft, no movement there at all. I think the gremlins have got me!
