resurrecting - should a 1936 flathead TuDor hand throttle have friction or not? If yes, HOW do you adjust/repair that friction? Mine is NOT currently friction, so SEEMINGLY useless for warming up a car or 'cruise control' as previously mentioned.

I've tried carb cleaner, engine degreaser, start fluid - nothing seems to clean off these stains from the previous owner (I'm sure they're old). I even tried a scotchbrite pad (but fearful of it altering the surface patina). SUGGESTIONS? -Brendan

What about Speedways 9 Super 7's? Will those work well for my application? and do they require mechanical advance distributor as well? Thanks for the pointers! -Brendan

i think it is aftermarket on the distributor; they did a bunch o things right on this car, but the 2 dummy carbs just chaps my hide! No reason not to invest in having it right! I'll double check but lets assume it's mechanical advance at this point, along with offenhauser intake, heads, and...

Yes sorry I forgot to mention, the distributor is at an angle in the front, canted to the right. "On a budget" is a vague term I should not have used. I simply don't want to go buy brand new units - but I have seen rebuilt ones floating around. I do have budget for properly overhauled...

it's a late model Flathead, 24 studs (if not more) counted on the heads. I'm not looking for original, the rest of the car has been hot rodded, lowered, custom etc so having just one carb running is just silly. I realize there's reasons not to do it, but I want all the power it can muster...
