    Hegarty Insurance

If you're a AAA member, check into their agreed value classic car coverage. I have two vehicles insured with them. The rates are very reasonable and, most importantly, the claim service is excellent.

Shop ruined my '48 radiator tanks

Most likely, the "idiots" shut down the auto shop class due to lack of interest on the part of the student body. In this day and age the kids know that they can do much better writing code for computer games and other software than they can getting their hands dirty working on automobiles.

    Big Claude Hoppers- Size 12

Try a pair of race car drivers' shoes. They feel very light on the feet and the soles blend with the uppers and don't protrude out the sides like regular shoes. Summit Racing has a large selection. I wear a size 12 and they work for me........

    Spring Carlisle

The "political crowd" is trying to shut it down because they will be the first to be burned at the stake if they don't in the event that things go south. But with thousands mingling together with no PPE in the midst of a lethal pandemic, what on earth could go wrong?

    Bucking like a horse

That five year old gas left standing has turned to gum and varnish in your fuel system. You need to drain and flush it all out including disassembling the carb so that you can clean out the nozzles, jets, etc. Ask me how I know. When you say it acts like it's running out of gas, that is exactly...

    Warning about c&g

I've been buying stuff from C & G on and off for the best part of 30 years and have never, ever had an issue, and that's all the way back to when Clyde and Gail were running the show with Dorothy and Kyle assisting.

40 V8 compression change all cylinders same time

Do a leak-down test on each cylinder with compressed air. That will give you an idea of the path that your cylinder pressure is using to make its escape.

    Chemical Dip Needed

L & M stripped all of my sheet metal including the body in '86. Everything came out assembly-line clean with no warpage or any other potential damage from blasting. Keep in mind that if you do the chem dip, meticulous cleaning must be done afterwards to remove ALL of the residue or, in time...

Low Compression - keep trying or rebuild?

if you have sticky rings and valves then Marvel Mystery Oil is your friend. Put a good dose in each cylinder and let that marinate for several days while turning the motor over by hand a couple of times in the interim. I did this with a modern OT motor that had been sitting idle for several...

    1940 sedan, different door?

Correct. My '40 has that depression on both front doors to accommodate the stainless window divider's up and down movement. Perhaps your drivers door is off of a '39 which didn't have the vent window.

    Chrome Prices

Sure, chrome plating was cheap back in the day because back in the day some plating shop operators thought nothing of draining their Chromium VI tanks and their other carcinogenic materials out the back door of the shop into storm drains or wherever it decided to go. The present day cost of...
