I had to install a new cam and cam gear in my 1937 21 stud, the later gear type that screws on instead of the earlier type that pressed on. Now the slot in the cam doesn’t reach the distributor. Do I need to buy a later distributor?

Is there a fan shroud that will fit a 1937 with the fan up on the generator? I did a quick search on the www, but didn't see much.

I thought about it for a quick minute, then took the main bearing to a local friend who is a pre1916 car machinist. He’s adding babbit to the thrust face tomorrow. Maybe a previous owner held the clutch in a lot at stoplights which loaded up that bearing and wore the slinger face on the crank...

The rear main bearing on my motor is OK diameter, but there is a lot of end float on the crankshaft: about 0.025" The bearing is 2.246" wide overall. Does that sound correct, or is the bearing worn on the thrust face by about 0.020"? I don't have another bearing to compare it to. I've called a...

That's true in cold weather, but in hot weather the intake charge does well when cooled. I don't drive in cold weather.

Thanks! That’s good info. I’m not sure what it take to pull out the whole crank. I guess all the rods, mains, plus timing gear. A real seal sounds like a good improvement though. I’ll locate barnfind08 and ask his opinion on the labyrinth vs positive seal.
