Roof "ballooning" while open trailering (!!)

I had the same problem with a new roof. I had not stretched the top material enough during installation. I replaced the top and pulled harder….No more problems. Good luck!

What did you do today, that was Model A related ?

I mocked up the seat and roll bar/top for a speedster I am building. The photos show the progress made in the last three days. I am shortening the wheelbase by 13.5” to provide for better traction and get the look I envision. The rear wishbone will be cantilevered to pick up the support of the...

Vacuum advance dist. for Model A

The vacuum supplied to retard the timing is taken from the base of the air filter. The primary function of the timing advance is from the centrifugal advance weights. The system works very well. I have used it for about 15,000 miles over the past two years. See photos attached…..

    Burtz oil pump

An oil pump delivering high oil pressure is placing a high load on the oil pump drive gear and the center cam gear. I am concerned that this will be a failure area for anyone that accumulates lots of miles on their engine. I have been installing the Kliesen filter/regulator since they have been...

    American Classic Radial Tires

I got about 24k on a set of Coker Classic Radials on my 31 Town Sedan. I was running them at about 32 psi for the first 8k when I experienced some tube issues on the rear drivers side…flats. The tubes were scuffing in the tire. I increased the pressure to 35 psi and had one more flat. I...

Vacuum advance dist. for Model A

I have modified a couple Lucas 25D vacuum/mechanical advance distributors for use on high compression heads. I need three more for engine builds in the works. I get them on Amazon for about $80.00. The lower part of the distributor needs to be machined so it fits the Model A distributor hole...

Why is there a need for an Adjustable Drag Link?

I ordered a modified steering box from Randy Gross and never analyzed why it was not centered. I installed a “Moog” adjuster on the drag link to make the correction. I installed the part just prior to starting my road trip last summer. Having the sector centered made the driving much more...

    Banger Fuel Injection

I installed a five gallon belly tank that the injection system circulates fuel from. Fuel feeds from the original tank to the belly tank. There is also a manual vapor bleed valve on the belly tank.

    Banger Fuel Injection

I drove my Sniper 1100 fuel injected Burtz engine 11,500 miles this past summer while on a road trip to Alaska. The Burtz engine has a Miller Hi-Speed head on it. The system worked flawlessly. The EFI improved the fuel economy over dual Stromberg carbs by 3 mpg.

    Ethanol 101

Our local Club (Twin Cities Model A Ford Club) invited a fuel expert to one of our winter clinics to speak about fuel and oil for our cars. For winter storage of our cars and small engine equipment, he suggested filling the gas tank fully and then placing a plastic bag or similar plastic over...

"New Engine" driven to Deadhorse (Prudhoe Bay), Alaska

I stayed in a park campground at Jasper and on the way south the next day, I got some great photos. Some of them follow. I made a judgement error when I left home regarding my rear tires. I thought there was plenty of tread left to complete the trip before I left home. Not so! The rough roads...

"New Engine" driven to Deadhorse (Prudhoe Bay), Alaska

Greeting from Teslin, YT, Thanks Terry for sharing a few details of my trip. I left Minnesota on July 15th and have logged over 9200 miles. Most of the miles have been trouble free. The back half of an exhaust system and the spare tire arm for a side mount are the only issues to date. I’m not...

Starting a Road Trip to Alaska

The trailer has a self fabricated metal frame with 3/4” square tubing structure for the sides and portion that hinges to open. The rounded shapes are made of 3/4” wood blocking fastened to the metal tubes. Both the wood blocking and metal tubes are sandwiched between two layers of thin plywood...

Starting a Road Trip to Alaska

My wife, Jean, flew to Anchorage and we spent a few days there also visited Seward, Denali Park and Talkeetna. We took a flight out of Talkeetna to view Denali and land on a glacier. In Seward, we went on a 6 hour cruise to Kenia Fjords National Park. Jean was elated as we saw killer whales, sea...
