    That's exactly the problem. That wood support is in the way and makes installing the later style support a big job.

    The wood piece you describe is also on my 28 Briggs and is a problem when trying to install the 31 style steering support. My original support is starting to leak. Any suggestions ?

    Can anyone help with pictures or describe how to install the 31 style steering column support in my 28 fordor ? When I remove the dash cover there is a wood support behind it and the only place I can see to mount the 31 support would be to the top of the fuel tank where its pinched together...
