    56 F100 Rearend length/wheel back spacing

I have got my 56 F100 stripped down to the frame. I would like to start with 20x12 rear custom wheels, and 31 spline 9" rear ends from 78 f100s. I have 2 of these rear ends and would narrow the best one to accommodate the 12" wheels. I will widen the rear fenders 3" and add 3" tubs. what ever is...

    Radio only works part time!

I have a very confusing situation with my radio. It is a 12V replica radio I installed in my 51 F1 truck that is still 6V positive ground. I installed the power inverter for positive ground systems and it comes in with 6.8 V and converts to 12.06 V. With the key on the radio uses .59 A and the...

    6v bulbs

Has anyone ever found a 6v compact dual element bulb. I need them for my park/turn signal lights on my 51 F1 truck. I tried the regular sized bulbs but they are too close to the plastic lens and started to melt it. I have seen 12V compact dual element bulbs but I don't know if they would work...

    Yankee 730 signal wire gauge

I am installing signal lights on my 51 F1 truck that I am keeping 6 volt. All the wiring is 14 gauge to the lights but the Yankee signal switch is only 16 gauge wire. Should I solder in new 14 gauge wire into the switch or leave it as 16 gauge. Just wondering if this is a weak link in a 6 volt...

    Transmission cover seal?

I am starting to finish the interior of my 51 F1 truck. It didn't have a gear shift boot or the foam rubber seal that goes around the gear shift when I took it apart. It only had the trans. cover, a small plate on top of it around the gear shift and the rubber floor mat. Did they originally have...

    Not enough paint

I am in the process of painting my F1 truck and didn't put a thick enough coat of paint on the box sides. They have 2 coats of 2K urethane clear on them and I was wondering if I can sand this off and add more paint or is it best to use paint stripper and remove the clear and the paint and...

Thanks for all the info. I have a spare 239 flathead from a 50 Mercury 3/4 ton. They all have 2 oil holes in the small end. I think I could use them or make one good set out of the two.

    239 rod holes

There isn't any holes in the bushing or the small end of the rod. It doesn't seem to be worn any more than the other bushings.

    239 rod holes

I recently started to rebuild my 1951 F1 239 and noticed that 7 of the 8 connecting rods have two 1/8" holes drilled through the top of the small end. Number 7 rod doesn't have any holes drilled in it. Are these holes for balancing, lubrication or both? As far as I can tell this engine has never...
