Good time to check your fan blades

Just to wrap this up, Synders have now got in a new stock of fans (they told me 1,000!). I've just received delivery of mine from them and will fit it when I drain the system down to replace anti-freeze for winter. Thanks for the useful advice.

Good time to check your fan blades

I had the fan blade shear and rip into the rad on my '28 Phaeton recently; rad recored and up and going again. I've had to use a new 2 blade fan as a replacement but don't want to leave long term. Usual stockists are out of stock of the 2 blade aluminium type. Any ideas where I can get a...

    shorting column switch

thanks for feedback. when rewiring the car last year, we did away with the headlamp connectors as they were shorting out (as highlighted in the replies above). It's then worked fine for a year or so. The problem we have now is shorting/ blowing the fuse when going from dim to bright. We've...

    vacuum gauge as diagnostics tool

thanks for feedback. We've sorted the problem. We rechecked the timing and points; gap had opened up to 25+ thou. We corrected it; and messed around with the timing in the end giving it a bit more advance. We also balanced the idle jet and gas valve for smoother running. She's ticking over...

    shorting column switch

We're working on my friend's 29 Model A. We replaced the wiring with a stock loom, new steering switch and new headlamps last year and everything has worked fine until now! We put in additional fusing so that we didn't just rely on on one main fuse. The problem is when you switch on the...

    vacuum gauge as diagnostics tool

I'm helping a friend with his A. We've had to replace the head gasket - it was blown - recon the distributor (cam and bearings shot) and rebuild the carb (jets missing from original!). It's running loads better but there's an underlying misfire and she's slow in pulling under load. We've timed...

Position of park lamp in headlight

I'm just putting the headlights back into my 1928 Model A Phaeton. Can anybody confirm what position the park lamp should be. I had them at 6o'c (bottom of the reflector) but it appeared to be fouling the spigot at the bottom of the headlamp shell and dead shorting the lighting circuit. So...

Exploded view of Model A light switch

Thanks for the replies. Bob it looks as though it was the side light on one of the front headlights. I had them positioned at 6o'c and that's likely to short against the spigot that secures the headlamp shell. Just busy resoldering wires back but so far the problem has not reappeared.

Exploded view of Model A light switch

I've got a 1928 Model A RHD. I'm in the process of tracing through to find a dead short on the lighting circuit which is blowing the main fuse. 2 questions. 1. Has anybody got an exploded view of the light switch that attaches to the end of the steering column? I've been through the Les...
