    E-Brake Handle Adjustment

My 1930 AA has two options for placement of rod clevis pin in the E brake cross shaft lever. Book says it’s the only adjustment for wear. Not sure if car is same.

Not Model A but steam whistle question

Air volume. I help a friend do blacksmith demonstrations at a local festival. He has an old oxygen tank and a little pancake compressor. His steam whistle will give several loud blasts before the compressor has to catch up.

Who would take on these Model A Restorations?

My AA project was a basket case. I’ve spent more on it than it would ever be worth. I agree that the best bargain is likely an already restored vehicle. But I really have enjoyed the challenge and the good thing is I have learned a great deal and by necessity have become an expert on it. Plus I...

    model a overdrive

I know this is comparing apples to oranges, but I have a 3 speed Warford over-under-direct in my AA. Not street legal yet but anxious to try it out. I don’t think I’ve ever heard anything negative about a Mitchell except maybe the wait on orders.

How would you fix this horn? (picture!)

You could clean it down to bare metal and solder it. Then repaint.

    Stubborn Bumper Bolts

Your fire wrench is not big enough. Oxygen/Acetylene fire wrench is sometimes needed. Heat to dull red and douse with penetrating oil as it cools. As long as you are re-plating you don’t have to worry about the finish.

Autolite is closing down - Buy your 3076 spark plugs now

My local O-Reilly’s had 4 on the shelf for $3.17 each including tax. I went ahead and bought them at that price doesn’t hurt to have spares. Probably never need them. I have a new set in the truck now and four new 3X on shelf plus six new old stock Champion C4X plugs in original cartons.

    Easy Steer

Good point about adjusting alignment. Being old school mechanics we tend to think that’s obvious but I guess some younger folks might not know.

    Easy Steer

I’m fixing to replace steering arms on my AA truck with ones with new balls welded on. Should I replace the stock type metal cups in tie rods and drag link with the teflon kit? Does it improve steering? Does the teflon wear well?

    universal joint

Be thankful you aren’t working on AA. No replacements available at any price. And if you are trying to fit up a Warford auxiliary transmission it really gets tricky finding good original ones with correct splines. Snyder’s price doesn’t sound outrageous to me if it’s a quality part. Bought any...

Worst driving truck I ever owned was a 69 F100. Radial tires helped it a lot.

    B carburetor on A?

Thanks Renner, expert advice is appreciated here. Reading the ditching air maze thread I am amazed at the number of people who are blissfully and adamantly ignorant. For some folks facts evidently have no merit when you are sure your opinion is always right. Heating and cooling have been part of...

Hmm, that's a new one to me

Sounds like what happened to me years ago with my 52 F1 truck. It was pretty sluggish. I had my brother push accelerator while I watched carburetor. Throttle was only opening about 2/3 way. I brazed up all the egg shaped holes in linkage and wear on male portions and filed them back round. It...

    Ditched the "Air Maze"...

I agree with Bob Bidonde, the Zenith model A carburetor is nearly bulletproof if it is properly set up and fed a constant clean diet. If a person takes the time to understand how it is designed to utilizes atmospheric pressure and air velocities to regulate fuel mixtures over various operating...

    B carburetor on A?

Thanks for the feedback guys. I have a couple spare intakes I can experiment with and a good B carburetor. I’ll go through the carburetor when time permits. I have all the specs on Zenith model A carb but not on B. Perhaps someone knows where to find info on the B carburetor, flow rates for jets...

    B carburetor on A?

My AA has a fresh rebuild, bored .080 over with a touring grind cam and Snyder’s 6:1 high compression head. Would I gain anything by boring out intake manifold and running a B carburetor. Would it be worth the trouble?

    High Beam Low Beam

Mine is different on my AA. I got hi-lo beam wires reversed at the contact plate when I replaced wiring harness. I can fix it but I’m used to it now.
