    Woven vs molded brake linings

FYI You can get molded brake lining in soft molded, and hard molded. In my experience the soft molded has worked great with mechanical brakes and cast iron drums. I did have a set of brake shoes that were incorrectly lined with hard molded lining arched to cast iron drums and the result was poor...

Ever seen a float cork this bad?

The problem with a brass float is that with the tanks full the float will hit the top of the tank and make a nice little tapping noise.

    Top Dressing for Original Top

I acquired a 1931 160B 20 plus years ago with an original top. When I acquired the vehicle the top had some cracks and leaks. I have used Dupont Thickote top dressing and sealed the top and have no leaks. This is a product from the 40's and 50's and can be found at swap meets and on e-bay. See...

    Restarting the engine

Engine should be fine. When you install the engine and add oil, remove the distributor and pour 1 quart of oil down the hole, this will put oil in the dipper tray so when you start the engine there will be oil for the rods.

    Brake shoe lining

FWIW I did a brake job a number of years ago on my 1931 S/W Town Sedan 160B and was not able to get any effective braking. I had new cast iron drums trued, and bonded lining on used shoes arched to the drum. After much time and frustration I learned that the brake shop that did the lining on my...

    Cast Iron brakes

Not that I am aware of, even if they did I do not think there would be much interest as the cast iron drums improve braking due the improved heat dissipation you get from the cast iron brake drums.

    Hood supports

Here is a photo of some hood supports that a member of our club fabricated. Just rotate the clip up to support the open hood, and rotate the clip down when you close the hood. I like them because you do not bang your head on the supports that bolt on the radiator support rods.
