    Frame straightening

I finally did raise the body up and put a string line from front to back on both sides. Each side was straight meaning it had no sag near the rear motor mount area. It turns out I am not going to have to make any frame adjustments now. Thank you all for your experience advice and knowledge...

    Frame straightening

I just assumed I could use the bottom of the frame, I didn’t know it was tapered. I will raise up the body and check the topside of the frame.

    Frame straightening

Good afternoon to all, The 1931 Briggs four-door I purchased had what appeared to be a restored chassis, including a rebuilt engine with 1500 miles on it most of the hydraulic brakes set up, but the body was original. I replaced all the wood in the floor of the body including the two main...

    Driveshaft housing

Here a couple of pictures when I first got the Briggs Model A. There is an original dealer sticker on the drivers side calling the body a 1931. Can you look at the gas tank and tell which year it may be?

    Driveshaft housing

No this is not a slant windshield body it is a Briggs Fordor. The underside of the Body is "wood sills". The body had the original wood sills and black paint. I bought it from previous owner who had purchased all new "wood sills" but hadn't replaced(or installed) it. I also noticed in a box of...

    Driveshaft housing

The oval speedometer came with the car car in a box of parts when I purchased it from someone in 2015. I think some of the parts that came with the car were extras they picked up at swap meets back in the 80s. I’m pretty sure my body is a 1931 Briggs Model A Fordoor. It appeared all original...

    Driveshaft housing

I believe I just came across the speedometer/odometer? Also, does anybody know how to tell which speedometer drive housing fits my 1931 car? Mikes Affordable A’s parts has two different ones listed for 1931.

    Driveshaft housing

Ah ha I learned something new today. Speedometer drive housing goes there! Truthfully, I have personally never driven this Model A nor any Model A. I started working on restoring this one 7-8 years ago and hit a wall in my efforts a few years ago. I finally started back at it a month ago and I...

    Driveshaft housing

Good afternoon, I was under my 1931 Briggs Fordoor model A and noticed an opening on the driveshaft housing that looks like needs some type of cover plate. Can anyone tell me if there needs to be a cover there and what the name of it is?

    Carburetor Identification

Good morning, I’m curious if anyone here can identify this carburetor I have on my 1931 Fordoor Briggs model a. Though it is not all original. I was thinking about buying a rebuild kit from a parts supplier and have no idea where to start or if I should get a different carb? Any advice would be...

    Steering column not matching up

I was wondering if I should put the second bracket on? Sounds like great insurance against a future gas leaks. I think I will purchase one and install it. And yes I know when "roundtoit" is! I sure can't wait to finally drive my A. It seems like such a long time from now! Sent from my iPhone...

    Steering column not matching up

Larry I am not sure what you mean by rubber? I don't notice any of the suppliers that sell rubber that goes in between the clamp and bracket around the steering column. Do I use rubber from an old tire tube in between the clamp and bracket? Thank you all very much for the advice.

    Steering column not matching up

Okay sounds like I shouldn't use spacer. I definitely don't want the steering wheel in my lap. Also I would like it to stay close to original. I am hopefull loosening the steering box bolts gets me up in the clamp!

    Steering column not matching up

My car could be an assembled car. The body was never restored, all original. Yet maybe the chassis is from a different car, I am not sure. The spacer bracket does look very necessary considering the gap between the column and gas tank bracket. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Steering column not matching up

I will loosen the steering box bolts as I snugged it up tight. I also was thinking about the body. I put one rubber spacer under each of the body bolts from the front to the back. I tightened down all the bolts except the very front one at the cowl. There is quite a gap there, maybe an inch or...

    Steering column not matching up

Good afternoon. I am working on restoring a 1931 Briggs fordoor and just mounted the body to the frame today. I had already mounted the steering box to the frame and put on the steering wheel before setting thebody to the frame. The problem I am having is the steering column does not sit up...

    1931 Model A Briggs Fordor

The family I purchased the car from sent me this link to help. It has detailed pictures of an entire fordor restoration. It has great pictures. Unfortunately my seat wood is not reusable but at least i have most of it for a pattern! I am looking forward to the challenge of the curved seatback...

    1931 Model A Briggs Fordor

Thanks for the advice. The car is a 155 straight windshield I believe. It has the visor over the top of the windshield. I know it is a bit challenging, but I think I can try and reproduce the wood from the patterns and I know of a welding shop that will hopefully agree to fixing the bottom...
