Could Use Some Help With License Plate Restoration

Ah but Fred, keep in mind plates were issued every year back then so every year all cars, beater and new would have new plates. So probably not unreasonable to have a nice shiny new plate on you 10 year old jalopy. Of course they (the plates) wouldn't look like a show piece.

Could Use Some Help With License Plate Restoration

So many years ago (about 2002) I located a prince of a guy that did license plate restoration in Walnut Creek, CA. He did the two 39 plates and they were beautiful and still are. $85. Then he retired a few years ago. I know, it was a long time ago but now from what I have seen restoration of...

Thermostats, To Use or Not to Use

Thank you Tinker, Northern California. Hot days (90+) are not that often. And it runs fine now with that temperature. There were some comments about other issues causing the over heating. There was nothing that I could identify. It had minor ignition problems but the cause seemed to be unknown...

Thank you all gentlemen. Many different theories. Looks like I will go with the "custom" thermostats that Skip recommends to go with his water pumps. Thank you all for your input!!! Dave

Thermostats, To Use or Not to Use

Greetings, I am hoping to get some input regarding thermostat use. Initially when I purchased my 39 (orignal flathead) it had the usual inherent overheating issues. I struggled with it until I took advantage of Skip's high capacity water pumps which corrected the problem. In do so I left out the...

    Distributor 1939 Deluxe

Bubba's, Yes, I am aware of the offset of the key and slot, it will only go on one way. If it is opposite it will not even come close to sitting into the recessed circle in the block. I visually confirmed that. Everything is very clean as it was when removed. Will use the thumb, that might help...

    Distributor 1939 Deluxe

I am hoping someone can give me some advice about this probably elementary question. So I removed the distributor and coil (original) from my flathead. Now I cannot seem to reinstall it nor the backup identical distributor either. When I removed it I did have to do some tapping with a rubber...
