    8rt head milling

Thanks Ron, I guess there is a difference in the heads that just milling the 8rt heads won’t accomplish the same thing?

    8rt head milling

Hey guys, I have a 51 8ba with a 4” crank, bored .060 over, and 8rt heads. I bought the heads at the same time but don’t know the history of them. I have 130-140 lbs of pressure in cylinders 1-4 and 110-120 lbs in cylinders 5-7. I did the tin foil balls thing in the cylinders on the 5-8 side...

    Prices for turnkey Flathead?

Give Mike at h+h. He's not a salesman , just a straight shooter. I had a bad block so he built me a complete block with a 4" crank, .o6" bore, 3/4 cam and 8rt heads for $5000. He was a pleasure to deal with.

    Temp gauge works backwards

Your memory is working well. They are silver with black indicatetors . I'm in Myrtle beach South Carolina getting ready for a hurricane that apparently isn't coming here now. When I get home I'll pull the gauge and look closer for signs of it being replaced but I don't expect to find that. Thanks

    Temp gauge works backwards

Thanks for the input. The gauges all match in style and appear to be the same age so I don't think I want to change the temp gauge. It makes sense now why changing the wires on the gauge didn't make a difference. Does anyone know where I can get a sending unit that would work opposite to the...

    Temp gauge works backwards

The gauges all match in Color and design. The speedo is stamped on the back with 1951 but I guess it's possible the temp gauge has been changed.

    Temp gauge works backwards

I'm sorry for not replying quicker but just after posting I got a call my mom was going to the hospital. Thanks for the advice. When I turn the key on the gauge goes from cold to hot and than comes down to the center of the gauge. When I disconnect the sending it goes to old and than hot when I...

    Temp gauge works backwards

Hey guys, I have a 51 pick up I just rebuilt. Before I started the rebuild the temp gauge went to hot when the key was turned on and than to the Center of the gauge when warmed up. I checked the temp and it's 180 degrees warm. So when I completed the rebuild I changed both sending units with new...

hard steering - radials or bias ply

I have a 51 pickup and just changed from bias ply to radials. There's no noticeable difference in the effort to turn at slow speeds but the difference in the ride and handling amazing.

    Flathead v8 rough idle

I had trouble with my carb on a 51 pickup. I tweaked it , rebuilt it twice after soaking it in different cleaners and blowing through compressed air. Finally I bought a new carb and it ran great. Best $300 I've spent. Good luck

dual exhaust, mufflers or not, what say you all?

Hey Blucar I too have a nice pair of Fenton cast iron headers hanging in the garage I don't plan on using. Would you use 1 3/4" pipes for the back pressure or your happy with 2".

    EAB cam with 8BA heads?

Thanks guys, I was thinking I wasn't let it breath correctly with the stock exhaust. I'll put some more time into the timing issue instead. I really don't want to change the distributor if I can help it. If I can figure out how to work this site a little better I'll put in some pics. Thanks again

    EAB cam with 8BA heads?

    EAB cam with 8BA heads?

I've tried idle settings from 2 degrees to 14 degrees and it seems to run best at about 4. I don't really know what the advance is
