Not on crosmember. On frame rail where the rivets attach to crosmember.

Found the serial number. It was way up front on top of front crossmember. It was right next to the two rivets along the very edge of the frame rail. Thanks to all for help.

The completely flat starter plate is used on Mercurys with automatic is to avoid the studs on the converter from rubbing on the starter plate. The same thing applys when installing a C-4 behind a flathead.

It has been my experience with putting a C-4 automatic behind a flathead you need to use a "flat" starter plate to avoid the studs that pass through the flexplate from rubbing on the starter plate. I think that's why they were used on Mercurys with automatics.

In need of a primary metering block for a Holley 4bbl carb. The Holley is a 390 cfm, list number 8007. The part number for the metering block is 7204 that is stamped on the top of the metering block. Thanks, Richard

What is the position of the bottom window channel on the window glass ? How do you adjust the window when installing? Thanks

You can identify the front and center main bearing caps by.....the front cap will always have a little bump cast on the cap about 1/8". Also, the bolt holes will be centered on center cap. The bolt hols will be a liitle off-center on front cap. If rod caps are not marked, look at the matching...
