Fun Car Games for our Club's 40th Birthday & Summer Picnic

Never tried that game, however, we never had a problem buying a demolition car for $50 bucks and having our own derbies. Those were good times but hard on some now classic cars. Beater Model A's could still be had for a few hundred, but most kids made hotrods with them. I never messed up an A or...

Fun Car Games for our Club's 40th Birthday & Summer Picnic

I am looking for some really fun car game suggestions. We will be situated in an ideal park with plenty of room to play. I'm hoping to have at least 10 - 15 cars participate and to keep the window for the game time for all participants under one hour. I would love to hear what your club does...

Removing caked on grease and crud

X2 works fast and what I prefer - you will lose paint though. I always plan on doing my paint work anyway.

Water pump sealed bearings instead of packing.

X 2 excellent product and service. My new motor included his "extreme duty" sealed bearing pump. One can put your hand on my block after an hour run and not hot. Another potential road issue is now history. I bought another pump from Mr Rupert only a few weeks ago for a back up motor. Mr...

What are you doing with your A this winter?

Yikes! Our touring season is less than a month away! I continue to stare at the six Goodyears that need mounting not to mention repainting the wheels, 10 of them no less. I sent out an original instrument panel to be restored with "butler" nickel. Finished the cowl band and yes, what a hassle...

How Long Does It Take For your Car to Overheat

X2 Try advancing your spark half way down the quadrant when she fires and you can tweak it from there. If the boiling doesnt stop, give these a checkout. Radiator at max efficientcy (recent article in Restorer) Correct Timing at idle spark set as Patrick states I think the longest I have...

    30-31 radiator shell lacing rivets

Bill thanks again for your posting. I had at it yesterday and it works great! I filed the teeth off on the otherside and put a small piece of gorilla tape on it. I really enjoyed the success feeling of making the tool as much as how good my shell cowling looks. Thanks!

Is a lightened flywheel overrated? (I think so)

The M.E.'s and the mechanical experienced expressed my anticipated response and makes sense mathmatically. A lightened flywheel coupled with a "damper" and balanced crank I believe offers an advantage IF you have a concern for higher RPM's or sustained 55-65 mph of operation. A rebuilt stock...

    Cowl Band restoration

That's spot on advise - I put a couple of rags below and sprayed the threads and nuts down with PB blaster. I'll soak them for a week. Removing and installing my wife helps me, a paint job is expensive.

Runs for about 10 minutes and the just quits

Fuel starved - start at the tank and verify fuel flow rate to carb. If you have steady flow to the carb, remove the carb for a thorough cleaning (and I mean every passage). Was your car sitting at idle when the problem occurs? Because if you were driving and experiencing fuel starve, the motor...

What are you doing with your A this winter?

My time line was like yours. Took me a year or more to get around installing new front and rear springs. Then another year to install my wonderful stipe shocks. After adjusting the shocks and shackles how I like, what an enormous difference in the ride! No more procrastination. Steering sector...
