    65 Thunderbird trunk lock mechanism

Hello all, I'm usually lurking around the V8 flathead section. A buddy of mine just picked up a 65 Thunderbird. He is trying to put his trunk lock mechanism together and is having trouble with the rod that goes from the key to the lock itself. I think it is a s shaped rod. Does any one have a...

Jack recall, chinese junk from Harbor Freight

I have a couple of the 61196. I got the email about the recall too. I used them a handful of times and never noticed anything unsteady about them. I'm going to return them anyways.

    Dual horns - Wiring

Thanks FlatheadTed and Rotorwrench. That is what I was wondering. So at rest with no power, there should be a gap between those points? There were two nuts on the stud. I am just trying to figure out how these are supposed to look. There was a large nut near the base and a smaller nut towards...

    Dual horns - Wiring

I bought these horns at a anitque shop. I don't think they are Ford, but they look like what is supposed to be stock on my 41. I need help with the wiring and operation of these. My one big question is how they are supposed to work. There are contactors that look like points in a way. Is there...

    Carburetor Issues - School me

Just as an update: I took the carb off and cleaned it out. The throttle closed perfectly. It seemed that there was some gunk preventing it from closing fully. Got it back on the car and found out my linkage was also holding it open slightly. After some modifying, I got it to work. I drove it...

    "G" Series 6 Distributor adapters+ dist find??

I just did a quick Google search and it looks like there is an adapter used for the Ford 8N and 9N tractors. It looks like it would fit on a 2 bolt distributor. http://www.tractorshed.com/fordnclub/n_oldad66948.htm I am guessing there will be a lot of modification involved.

    Carburetor Issues - School me

I just got a rebuild kit. So I am going to see if I can figure this out myself.

    Carburetor Issues - School me

Is the throttle butterfly supposed to be fully closed with no air being able to get by at idle? Currently it has a slight gap, maybe 1/16" of an inch or less.

    Carburetor Issues - School me

I have a 226 H-series in my 41 (not stock to car). It has the Holley 847 carburetor on it. Supposedly it was rebuilt, but I can not attest to the quality of the rebuild. It worked when I first put it on a few years ago. But it never idled right. I couldn't get it to idle below 700 RPM. It...

    Rear Disc Brake Conversion

I have looked into this and have found nothing. I believe this is something that you would have to design yourself. I was tinkering with this idea, but I am not a fabricator of any type, so making the caliper bracket was out of my league. But I believe you can use the front rotors from a mid...

    newer two BBL carb

Speedway has an adapter: https://www.speedwaymotors.com/GM-36-62-L6-2-Bolt-Small-Pattern-to-Stromberg-3-Bolt-Adapter,153284.html but you will need another adapter to get it to sit properly on the stock manifold. Update Okay, I found what I was looking for...

    newer two BBL carb

I am tinkering with the idea of using the Autolite 1100 carburetor from a 65 Mustang 6 cylinder. It works with the loadamatic distributor and is a one barrel like the Holley 847. But as Cmbrucew stated, you need a carburetor that can work with the loadamatic distributor. Otherwise, I believe...

    1951 Starter 6&8

amodel25 is correct. The stock 6 cylinder starter will not interchange with the V8 starter. You will need to either get the correct gear or change your flywheel for the V8. I have a V8 flywheel on my H series with the V8 starter.

    226G vs 226H

It should actually be a pretty much direct swap. Your flywheel, bellhousing and motor mounts should all bolt to the H series engine. I had a V8 in mine and was able to use the flywheel. So a lot of those parts are pretty much interchangeable. If it is in good condition and a good deal, go for...
