    Carb choices

I have used Zenith A and B carbs and tillotson carbs on my Fordor. No issues with any. I now have a Marvel. I like it the best for best starting and fuel milage. 19-23 mph as apposed to17-20 with others. Have to open choke nob about 1/2 turn for best mixture.

    Snap-On Dwell Tach

I think the 31 dwell is for the original A. And the 42 is for the B cam which is what all the venders sell now.

Max Speed of a Model A in Stock Form

Ok, I guess we all do stupid. I surely did. I have a 6:1 head and everything else was stock. Wanted to see what my 1930 fordor would do with a new engine. 3.78 gearing. on a rural pavement, level for 6 miles I floored it and it peaked out at 73 mph on my gps. As soon as I hit 73, I...

    windshield folds too far

Fundytides: I know exactly what you mean. I think perhaps my after market cap is too high. I just open the w/s until it is stopped by the cap..get plenty of air circulation. Or I remove cap & open window - replace cap and tighten swing arm nut. seems to work OK.

    Distributor gear

If you have the 2 piece distributor drive and you should, the shaft can only normally be installed correctly as it is mated to the drive shaft. but if you have a large amount of wear the upper shaft could be installed 180 * off. the upper shaft slot is off set so that it can only be installed...

    point gap ??

Another way to get the same results is to use the heel of the cam where points just touch closed. Now use the point adjusting screw to open the points by first turning by 180 degrees and then continue another 45 degrees. Now your points are at exactly 19 thousands. Easy to do by eyeball. this...

Changed my steering column mount today!

I was able to find only one steering column mount but it was 3/4 inch too short. There are both sizes made for the diff between 29 & 30 & 31. I made a nice spacer from a hardwood board and painted it. I worked perfectly and looked like it was made for it.

    point gap ??

Ideal = .019 thou. Most all set at .020 because it will soon be .019 because of point block wear. Set between .018 - .022 are spec parameters. If not within these, reset at .020

    Cracked Wheels ???

To answer a few questions: I do not drive aggressively and I keep the lug nuts torqued to 50 #. I have mech brakes with "Flat Head Ted" and cast iron drums. The outer edge of the center part is in tight contact with the drum. When I ordered different wheels, last Fall, I just purchased the...

    Cracked Wheels ???

I have two wheels that have cracks in them. One is more serious because it runs from the lug nut hole almost to the hub cap. the other has a barely visible crack around a lug nut hole. A friend tells me that radial tires are the cause. He says that radials put too much stress on the rims. I...

    Toe in adjustment

nick c Response to your post in #9. I do the stick pin method I think although I don't use a pin. I make an extremely small dot anywhere near the center of the tread with a pen or ,yes even stick pin. This made on both tires at 6 inches above the floor at the rear of the tires. Measure this...
