    40 Deluxe Running Boards

My 40 Deluxe Coupe has only two bolts per side fixing running board to front fender. The fender has 4 bolt holes in it but the running board only has two. Original fenders and running boards. Is this correct? A picher would be good. Also I managed to break one of the small spring clips that...

    Asbestos in 34 Ford

Hello Guys, I have not posted here in a while, but still fiddling with pre war Fords. Our Australian Government has gone madder these days and are paranoid about asbestos entering the country in imported cars. My question is:- Does anyone know if these cars (34 Ford) have asbestos in them, and...

    40 Deluxe front fender problem

Thanks Guys for your input. Kube, running boards are off the car. This car was built in 2009 and this problem has been there all along. I am going to look at a stock 40 Standard Coupe today so I can get an idea of the gap between frame and fender inner skirt. 19Fordy, thanks for you post and...

    40 Deluxe front fender problem

I have a problem with the front fenders on my car. The bottom of the fender forward of the metal panel brace, wants to poke outwards about an inch when bolting up the running board. My panel man says the front clip is too low, this is causing the fenders to poke out. The inner fender skirts are...

    Line up doors

All done, no problem really. Bolted the body down onto the mounting blocks and jacked the cab diagonally forward, with the doors open, this lifts the doors at the rear and now the swage lines line up. evidently these pickups suffer this quite often due to the mounting blocks breaking and...

    Line up doors

Whats the best way to line up the swage lines on a 33 pickup? I have heard that its best to bolt down the cab on its mounting pads and then use a couple of porta powers to jack diagonally across the door openings to line up the doors. Other people say to shim the cab to get the swages to line...

    Noise from Torque tube

34 Sedan, has a rattle from the torque tube on the over run, ie, when decelerating. The noise disappears under acceleration. Any ideas on what it could be? The noise is definitely from the torque tube. Thx, Max

    ANZAC day

I tell you what, we Australians are glad that the US is our friend. I remember my Dad saying, "If it wasn't for the Yanks you would have chinky eyes". This was after he and his mates had fought the Nips to a standstill in the mountains of New Guinea, he was ever thankful that the US army turned...

    Oil leak

My 33 pickup leaks oil from the rear of the engine. My guess is worn main bearings combined with the labyrinth seal is the culprit. Any other reasons do you think? Thx, Max.

    Ol'Ron is getting more famous

Yep, still making Rons chilli recipe. Actually made some up in a crock pot and took it with us when we went shooting, way out in the bush, in Western Australia. We had it for dinner along with some potato salad. Went shooting, came back to the hut and downed a few beers around the fire, with my...

    Flathead cooling advice wanted

The FIRST thing I do with an overheating flathead is to remove the radiator and have it cleaned. This means removal of top and bottom tanks. When refitting I ALWAYS place socks in the return hoses to stop crud from getting into the radiator. You can fiddle around forever to try to cure your...
