Were model 40's not allowed?

What is the overall length of the starting crank extension for a 1941 Ford 85hp V8.

Actually. all is in place and properly aligned so the extension does not touch the grille on the 34. Triangular pan is the forward bearing. Not the grille. That is the reason for the thick reinforcing plate behind hole on pan. Handle just clears INSIDE bumper. That is why length is so critical.

Know squat about 41's but on mine the handle is also the lug wrench. Did 41 have a different type lug wrench? He still has his and it sure looks like mine. This is bearing in mind he bought car in 1960. May not be what came new but the setup he had would start the car. I regularly hand crank...

Actually a 35 extension goes in and engages crank but is too short. Guy that owns it has had it since 1960 and used to crank it. Extension is lost and I am trying to find him one. First order of business is knowing length. Have to be spot on to clear bumper. I routinely start the 34 with...

Hello, Friend needs a starting crank extension for a 1941 85hp. Car is stock. What length am I looking for. Mine are all 35 and older. Thanks.

My favorite "Mikey" pic. Biketoberfest 2008. Dirty Harrys on Main st, Daytona Beach. Was not there but that sure is a familiar grin.

Not the same without "Mikey" in the car with me admiring female scenery but that is how life is. Missya bud and R.I.P. "OLE BLUE" missesya 2!!! ADDING, Never met your mom but knowing "Mikey" I am quite sure she was the best!

The slinger- washer should be tight against the outer race of rear bearing. I just use SAE 140. Clamshell is meant to hold 4 oz. Much more and it will leak bad. I use SAE 140 in there also . The felt, cork or whatever you use is a wiper. Not a seal.

God bless and R.I.P.

My favorite Mikey pic. Was not with him for this biketoberfest 08 pic at Dirty Harrys on Main st . He lived nearby. Cruising A1A beachside with him in his phaeton was always entertaining. The model A horn sure got used Scenery like this was obviously his favorite and there was plenty...

Thinking of Mike and bringing his old thread back up. Pic is yours truly and the Sonora 33 5w. JD is a 1958 620 LP with a 810A 3X16 plow behind it. Just finished plowing a 2 acre deer plot.

Wearing Pete out!!!! Thanks Dave

Found this pic from 1949. Opened in 1912 and closed in 1973 Second pic is cowl sticker again

Hey Clayton, We did not enter it or the green 68 Chevelle SS396 convertible in front of it for judging. 31 MODEL a 2D won. Just enjoyed the comments. AND showing how easy the 34 is to crank start Both are tattered used cars and are staying that way. Hows the leg? Still have 35 drums for...

Hibernation and coming out of it. 2023 Complete with a good dust covering

My bad, Brooklyn NY. Same area?:D

Just in case this has not been mentioned. Agree on tightening them tight and backing off NO MORE than 1 turn. Really cuts down on "death wobble". That said be sure to check for binding as any wear on balls will cause serious issues this tight.

More pics of the Mikey mobile kicking it up. Top pic may be it new. Pic is from NY NY and car has a NY NY dealers decal on r cowlside. Wonder how many new Dearborn blue 34 phaetons were sold on NY NY? Other pics are 7 miles from here at "Interstate State Park". Last pic is NOS RR fender...

And yet another example of Petes magic. Thanks Dave
