    400M in a 58 Fairlane

This isn't going to be a rocket, just a nice driver. It might get a vintage trailer hooked to it on occasion. So to stay away from "electronics" I'll look for a C6. Since the engine came out of an 88 F250 I probably need to see what I need to change in the ignition and/or what brain will run it.

    400M in a 58 Fairlane

so I should see if I can find someone to swap the C4 for a C6 if I want to stay "bolt in". And it sounds like I need 351 motor mounts - correct?

    400M in a 58 Fairlane

thanks ponymare. I should have been clear, the C4 wasn't attached to the 400M. I made the assumption it had been . Guess I'd better check it to see if it was originally attached or not. I didn't know if the 351 mounts I see mentioned in other posts would work. Hadn't thought about the pan and...

    400M in a 58 Fairlane

anyone know if the 400M is a decent fit in a 58 Fairlane? Car has a dead 6/3 spd and I was given a 400M/C4. Will the 400M work with the 3 spd? thanks Bill

    390 in a 58 wagon?

should I be able to pull this off - suggestions on disguising a 390 to look like a 352 (or 401)?

    390 in a 58 wagon?

unfortunately, its just an engine. Car the engine came out of was going to be restored. When the guy got it back from the blaster and saw all the rust holes in 90% of the car he scraped it. That was 4 years ago. Engine was still in the shop which is where it still sits and he wants it gone -...

    390 in a 58 wagon?

I know since its an FE it will fit, but what else do I need to change? I'm pulling a 223 6 cyl thats in front of a 3 speed w/overdrive (keeping the ******). Besides the motor mounts, what else needs to be addressed thanks Bill

    Brake drum interchange?

sorry I should have updated my post earlier. I found that after some research that they are the same...just different. Several of the sites selling drums classify them as the same part number but with an "A", "B" or "C" behind them. While the 58 and 61 drums are the same diameter and depth...

    Brake drum interchange?

I'm pretty sure but correct me if I'm wrong. 61 Galaxie - front and rear brake drum are interchangeable. That said, will the drums interchange from earlier series?...I have an extra set of good front drums off a 58 CS and bad rears on the 61 2dr. Would be a great temp fix if the drums...

    223 to 292 swap in a 58 Country Sedan

I kind of figured this was going to be an operation. I can get the 292 with its flywheel from a guy that is restomod-ing a 60 truck for $150. Truck has a 4 speed in it now but he's also going to modern ****** as well. I knew I couldn't use the ****** but was hoping the rest of the job wasn't a...

    223 to 292 swap in a 58 Country Sedan

howdy all straight to the Q, is a 223 to 292 a bolt-in swap in front of a 3 spd OD or do I have to make wholesale changes like bell housing, etc? thanks Bill

best combo for clutch disk 58 223 3 spd OD

I thought I had asked this before but couldn't find the post so my apologies if I have. I have a 58 wagon with the 223 and 3 spd OD trans. I have found a nice running 223 out of a 64 F100 with a 4spd. Do I need to swap the flywheel/PPlate clutch from the 58 to the 64 engine or will the existing...
