There is no angle built into it right at the fixed end...I believe that may have been for earlier models? It has a bend about a foot or so in and bends upward toward the adjusting sleeve end which then fits into the pitman arm side. I think the fixed end does go on the spindle end. I think...

Thanks a bunch for the reply...I thought so as it seemed like it was the only way it fit.......but all Ford and Mercury chassis manuals show it with adjuster towards pitman end. I really appreciate your response and now I can stop wondering! Thanks so much!!!

Looking for a good used 59A-6049 head. I have a 59A-6050 LH head and want the matching right hand head. My engine had two of the left side heads (59A-6050). I know I can interchange with the 59AB heads but really would like the matching RH head (59A-6049)

Thanks to ll...I can see that it was not as straightforward as I had hoped. I have one like the #8 post except it has several concentric rings close to the wing nut. I think I'll use that one. The other one I had is exactly like #2 so it appears it is for later years.

Thanks!.. After I found the serial number I also discovered they were crossing 47 and 48 engines so some serial #s are out of order. I think I'll just pick a 47 month like June for my window scripts and replace the one that has the script now. No wonder the guy that I bought the car from...
