I am overhauling a late '31 block and need a rear main cap. Does anyone know a person who can supply a newly babitted rear cap. Needs one to fit a standard crankshaft. Thanks, Richard Lorenz.

Has anyone figured out a way to get more leg and back room in a 29 Phaeton? I know that it would not be easy.

I thought that I sent this message yesterday, but apparently it didn't work. My dad had a plumbing business. In the shop he had this sign The man who lends tools is out.

The 2405N has an opening above the throttle plate that is about 0.090 inches in diameter. The 2415N eliminated this hole. If your 2405N is not working correctly, You can plug this opening and it will work like a 2415N.

A point of trivia is that I am certain that the 2505N and 2415N were not made by Zenith. Zenith always put its name on the bottom piece of the carburetor. One place that the 2405N is superior to the Zenith B is with a powerful engine. The Zenith B was built to be used with a fuel pump. It...

The following dimensions show why the 2405N should give better performance than the Zenith-1 and Zenith 2. Diameter at Choke location: (Throttle locations have similar differences). Zenith 1 and 2: 1.536 in. Zenith 2405N: 1.860 in. The Zenith B-1 and B-2 dimensions are similar to...

The 2405N and 2415N have the same external appearance. I messed with these two carburetors a few years ago. My memory is that there was a difference in having a fuel "pump" and not having it. I have one fixed up and ready to use. I hope to test it out before it gets cold outside.

I am restoring an old block that was stored in such a way that some of the seats are pitted. Is it O.K. to grind the valves but quit before all of the pits have been removed?

Hylomar Blue definitely resists gasoline.

In my experience, most older shocks need oil that is much thicker than 20 weight.

These are the rings that go between the block and the manifolds. What experience or recommendations do you have?

Does anyone have experience with the "new" neoprene seal that goes at the front of the crankshaft. It replaces the rope-type seal. It is described on page A-131 of Snyder's Catalog.

Is there a different style dash panel for the late 31s?

Any idea what these holes were used for? Dash panel cover has hole in center that does not align with these two holes. Thank you for any input!

I believe that the Phillips screws were designed so that power drivers could be used on the screws in mass production work. This was very beneficial during the World War 2 especially. They "slip" when over-torked. Most modern Phillips screwdrivers slip too easily. I grind back the tip of...

I mad some measurements that confirm what has been said above. The new cast iron drums measure 10.97 inches inside. This means that the inside diameter must be reduced 0.03 inches to reach the original Model A size of 11.000 inches. I also measured parking brake diameters. The new cast iron...

I have a set of new cast-iron brake drums that are too tight to go on with shoes that have new woven linings. Is this the usual case? Also, do the new drums need turning in order to be centered properly?

How do you add a picture to the "member description box" that is on the left side of each member's post? I know how to add a picture to the main post, but I would like to add a picture to my "description" on the left side. Thanks.

Friction shocks are not as good as hydraulic shocks. Friction shocks give the same resistance regardless of how fast the movement is. Hydraulics give more resistance when the movement is faster.

I made up a fuel level tester with the transparent plastic tubing so that I could measure the fuel level with the carb on the car. The result was that my fuel level was 3/4 inch below the seam. As mentioned above I had set the float 1 3/4 inches from the seam. In the future I will set it at...
