Well I am Grandpa to Redpond2. I am a preservationist, Owner of Fords from T to Pinto, and a 61 year Model A owner. I was so pleased with his interest in this truck, and in its preservation. It is truly a rare find. I am also pleased with your interest and support in his project. Believe...

    I Have a Lift!!

I finally bought a Greg Smith 4 post lift 2 years ago. it’s wonderful. I’m sorry I waited so long. I wanted a drive on lift to accommodate Model A and Ts and other vehicles that require getting on floor to arrange lifting arms. I am also able to store a car above and still drive under. I...

    51 F2 Engine Options

I'll join the 6 boosters. Mine has a 6, on purchase I planned to swap to a 239. I decided to drive it and see. The 6 is great. Doesn't crack, overheat or vapor lock, and always starts. I have had no carb troubles at all. I've had it 25 years. Totally dependable. I did use Charlie Schwendler for...

49 Mercury overdrive transmission assembly question

Wow! That is a real pretty transmission! To clarify: I am testing this unit with the overdrive lever in the lockout position, no solenoid attached, shifting cover off, and out of car. I made a tool to pull the balk ring out and I believe it is in position where I could attach the solenoid...

V8 Transmission Gears Photo Thread: When OK to use and when Not To.

I'm using a cluster gear with a small chip in low as a temporary transmission (that has been 10 years in use. It functions normally but sometimes shifting across it you can feel the tic as the slider jumps across the little gap. It's lightly used maybe about 3000 miles but it's working just...

49 Mercury overdrive transmission assembly question

For years I have been accumulating parts to change my stock 49 Mercury to overdrive. The completed unit is assembled but with cover off it turns freely in neutral but will only shift into second. When shifting to high, low or reverse it will only turn a few degrees. The 28 tooth cluster...

Any difference between 1950 Custom / Deluxe ?

Deluxe models had 16" wheels, 1 sunvisor, no courtesy interior lights, 1 interior light on pull switch on dash, no chrome trim on ends of dash, rubber floor mats, no armrests, black rubber trim around windshield and back glass, and fixed rear vent glass windows.. In other words, plain. There...

Please post pictures of 1933-1934's here

Here's my classy Mom with her brand new 1934 Ford. That was when a new car was something to be proud of. Second picture is the same Ford in an Iowa blizzard 2-21-1937. I'll bet it started and Pop drove it to work that day.

    49 Mercury clutch

I'm about to convert my stock 49 Mercury to overdrive. The clutch is relatively new, maybe 3,000 miles, and works well, but has slight chatter I think due to my failure to surface the flywheel. While I have ****** out should I replace the whole clutch assembly or can I save it by doing the...

1951 Ford - Not vapor lock- but something going on

On my 49 Mercury I run a 6 volt electric pump just forward of the tank for priming the carburetor. Car takes extended cranking after sitting a week without the pump. It is on a toggle switch that I turn on for 20 seconds or so before using starter. Then I switch it off. Has worked great for 15...
